Hm. You'd think YT would keep mine near the top, I mean, I am the main character.

Anyway, what I said was,

Years ago, I took an introductory machine tool class as a mechanical engineering tech major at a flagship state university. We broke up into teams and built little single-cylinder pneumatic reciprocating engines from drawings provided as part of the course materials. We weren't in training to be machinists; the purpose of the course was to give us a practical understanding of what the machinists who would have to build the stuff we eventually engineered would be up against. Most of us had never seen a machine tool in person before the start of the course.

We did way better work than that.

   I think my favourite bit is how he describes the barrel. "It's been turned down on a machine this far, but then it's been turned down with some sort of, like, angry beaver grinding tool out for the last two inches."

   Indeed, I was also informed. Rather insistently, in fact. I have little to no interest in that particular video, other than as a "huh" thing in passing, but Youtube decided that I urgently had to know, over the course of a couple of days.
