"My first art of the year"
|
This one was actually intended to be an original character of mine, a somewhat no-nonsense type. However, when I got to this point in my draw-scan-turn-blue-print-draw-over-blue-repeat computer-assisted drawing process, I suddenly realised that with blonde hair she'd look like Ritsuko. So, I did it. (I'll still make the original picture too, but not tonight, I think. Getting Rits' outfit took a few passes on its own, and I'm still not overly happy with the places where the clothes have wrinkles.) It almost makes me feel bad for the angels... what the heck HAS she been doing down in the restricted sections, anyway? - CD |

LAST EDITED ON 01-03-03 AT 10:58 PM (EST) >It almost makes me feel bad for the angels... what the heck HAS she >been doing down in the restricted sections, anyway? At a guess, I would say either: a) Practicing the forbidden kung fu skills of the Wu-Tang Clan; or b) Synthesizing Chemical X. Actually, looking at the original again, I think she more closely resembles the version of Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex... --G. >(say, now, Rei with superpowers... ) As opposed to Rei now, who merely has functional, retractable wings, the ability to perceive the Symphony, the Friend of Destiny attunement and other kewl Angel talentz? <grin> -- Bob ------------------- SAM: It's 106 miles to Mount Doom, we've got a magic ring, two daggers, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses. I was thinking more along the lines of the Classic Brick power set, which would be a tremendously amusing thing for a character as... small... as Rei to have. (And she could really get some mileage out of the invulnerability part.) --G. (or possibly Rei as Stitch, but that's just because I just finished watching Lilo & Stitch. :) -><- Benjamin D. >I was thinking more along the lines of the Classic Brick power set, >which would be a tremendously amusing thing for a character as... >small... as Rei to have. (And she could really get some >mileage out of the invulnerability part.) ... okay, I hate you now, Gryphon. Thanks to you, I have an Evangelion fic in my 'want to write' queue, and that means I'm either going to have to watch the damn thing again or settle for not even trying to be accurate, even at the beginning before it sucks. Then again, maybe someone else will get to it first. There's always hope! Now what powers would best benefit the others? Not neccesarily the most obvious, if that was the case Shinji would turn into a ball of putty and Asuka a fire-blaster, I'm thinking more along the lines of powers you wouldn't expect them to have, but which they'd really get some use out of and still somehow fit their personality. Using Gryph's example of Rei the Brick, well, tat would really explain her utter indifference to the notion of physical danger if she was essentially invulnerable, wouldn't it? Asuka might be a really strong telepath, but hate her powers and intentionally ignore and supress them, thus being her usual callous, abrasive self, but be able to turn whichever anghel it was that used the mind-rape-ray inside out, being forced to acknowledge her ability in that direction sending her into a different direction of hateful depression. Shinji... I dunno. It's hard to even imagine the spineless wonder being useful outside a combat fugue, without major personality surgery at least. Maybe he could be replaced with an insert character, but the SI's Kewl Powurz got tacked onto the others accidentally, leaving him withthe least of any of them, and a setting rapidly diverging from what he knows of the series? - CD

>>Shinji... I dunno. It's hard to even imagine the spineless wonder >>being useful outside a combat fugue, without major personality surgery ... >Nope... Rather that turning the spinless blob into a semi spined Mr. >Fantastic clone, why not make HIM the Psi? In 'Game terms' a power Well... it would explain why he's so sensitive, but thinking about it more last night he might make a good zspeedster. It would bring extra meaning to his mantra of 'mustn't run away' if he could easily run far enoguh from any given threat to be out of the danger zone entirely. It's hard to account for speedsters in a mecha, thoguh, unless you give him a set of footpedals to run a generator and lose the damn extension cord. RE Nathan's comment on Asuka-the-psi, well, I'd HOPE for it to be written to build her instead of destrying her, but few people write Evangelion without liking it much so I was figuring on an only slightly less depressing entropic nonconclusion. - CD |

Given the wierdness that is an Eva, it's quite possible that its reactions and such are in proportion to the speeds and reactions of its -pilot-... IOW, put a superfast pilot in, you get a superfast Eva. >RE Nathan's comment on Asuka-the-psi, well, I'd HOPE for it to be >written to build her instead of destroying her, but few people write >Evangelion without liking it much so I was figuring on an only >slightly less depressing entropic nonconclusion. -Anno- wrote Eva without liking it much. That's the problem. Most of the time, people write Evafic, they wanna -fix- things... Blessed be. -n |

Or, depending on your narrational bent, painful self discovery and epiphany. I know which -I'd- choose. Anyway, for stuff-I'd-been-planning-workingon-collaboratingabout-whatever... As in the insert vaporizes himself in the process, which is what spreads his Kewl Powurz to all and sundry? -- Bob ------------------- SAM: It's 106 miles to Mount Doom, we've got a magic ring, two daggers, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses. >I was thinking more along the lines of the Classic Brick power set, >which would be a tremendously amusing thing for a character as... >small... as Rei to have. (And she could really get some >mileage out of the invulnerability part.) >Indeed. Consider this scene. <<One of the evil Jon daemons is piloting a production EVA>> Ejon: "I'm picking up some sort of disturbance... Investigating" <<Giant EVA turns courner to see 'Brick Rei' standing there, unperterbed.>> Ejon: "DIE, ANGEL!!" <<EVA tries to stomp Rei, but she puts up her arms and holds it up. Suddenly the EVA is lifted by said foot and starts spinning around it, faster and faster, until its suddenly flung out of frame much like an olympic hammer!>> Rei: "Silly Deamon." ---------- OF COURSE you wern't expecting it! NO-ONE expects the FANNISH INQUISITION!!! EPU RCW #86 |
