I found it years ago, and thought I'd posted it here on the forums. That status was out front of the Wizard Works in the Hastings area of Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia. It's no longer there, but you can read all about it here:

You'll find a description of the Wizard Works gift shop, along with the picture below that shows the front of the shop, along with both of the gryphon statues.

Oh yeah, I remember being told about that at some point in the past (it might have been in one of the many posts on the UF board that can no longer be accessed).

I must have seen Wizard World, since I was at Busch Gardens in the fall of 1989 (my high school's jazz band took part in the Williamsburg Fiestaval that year), but the statues apparently didn't make much of an an impression, or I'd probably have recognized the photo when it came my way a few years later. I wasn't called Gryphon yet at that point, so I wouldn't have taken any special notice.

It's a shame that they're gone now, although I suppose that's a natural part of any theme park's ecology. I wonder what happened to the props...
