"what's going on people?"
|
I have a few questions for certain people out there. The folks I'm addressing are the ones who haven't put out anything in quite some time, specifically Hammer, Megazone and R.Mann (although anyone else who cares to respond will also have my thanks). I've noticed Gryphon doing most of the writing today, and was curious why. After reviewing the stories I've noticed that the recent ones are moving towards a focus on the next generation. My curiousity is are the authors satisfied with any older characters they were writing, and thus done with them? Are there any plans for others to write of the children of those characters? Some of the characters seem to have dropped out of sight(Mako/Temper, ReRob, Pfloyd, Jenna are all prominent). Are they just going about their day to day lives now, having finished the adventures? Thanks for the attention. |

Or maybe it's just that I have a lot more spare time. --G. -><- Benjamin D. Hutchins, Co-Founder, Editor in Chief, Netadmin Eyrie Productions, Unlimited http://www.eyrie-productions.com/

Martin and Larry in particular have day jobs; I'm self-employed and Gryph is between jobs, so we have more time to tool around with things like this. The others, you'll notice, still have lots of -ideas-... Redneck Red wizard needs money badly... www.wlpcomics.com White Lightning Productions - don't tell the Pope |

So there's no way of telling what happened to their characters. Peter Eng Peter Eng -- Insert humorous comment here. |

I was disappointed in my solo efforts ("Phoenix" and "Burnin' Out"), and my authoring role in the UF core stories was less of text and more of idea bouncing. Finally, I found myself drifting away from the UF universe, since I'm deeper into harder SF and UF is strongly moving in the opposite direction. I remember several occasions where Ben would come up with an idea, and I'd try to shoot it down as too far out. Invariably, the idea went in and worked well. Don't take the above to say that I don't like UF. A jazz pianist may love to listen to classical piano, but couldn't actually write or play classical piano. That's where I find myself. I do keep in touch with Ben and Zoner to some degree, and sometimes have influence over the writings (I actually made the credits in the series finale of NXE). But mostly, I have reverted to being a fan. As far as my UF avatar goes, I still need to discuss that with Ben. There are two reasons I show up so rarely in later stories. The first is that my character has never been a front-liner. He's an engineer, which is usually supporting cast. A second reason is (IMHO) that people don't feel comfortable about writing in someone else's avatar. I remember, when writing Phoenix, making sure that Trish and Ben read drafts to make sure I didn't have them saying or doing something they thought was wrong. --rR
