As amusing as the image of Earth-3 Blofeld, with his shorthaired black cat and his labyrinthine plans to ensure galactic stability, is, I'm going to have to go with "neither". Since SPECTRE sort of nebulously overlaps SAs 1, 11, and possibly 0 - it's not a terribly formal department - it's the Chief's own bailiwick. They're basically free-roaming troubleshooters, more or less to the IPO as 3WA TroCons were to the WDF back in the day.

I wasn't sure if you'd actually considered using him, as he tended to break stories IN CANON. For a good chunk of the 90's and 00's, the first step in a major DC Event was "Get the Spectre out of the way."

So when was SPECTRE created? Before or after the Zod incident?

Before, though at that time it was a very small division. Well, just Shepard, really.

FYI, some people might get on your case about this phrasing - it happens to be a *terrible* translation of the Latin phrase petitio principii "assuming the premise". (You might as well translate agrumentum ad hominem as "argument towards humanity".) I recommend using "it begs me to ask the question".

I suspect trigger was not directly referencing formal logic, but invoking the English idiom derived from said common translation.

There's something genuinely beautiful in the fact that my readership can have the argument about what "begging the question" means in the comments on a very short story about Commander Shepard from Mass Effect teaming up with Godzilla. This is not sarcasm.

Sometimes a context invites a question so strongly that "inviting" feels like an understatement. It's not just "inviting" us to ask the question, it's straight up asking for it. Except "that's asking the question" implies the context itself is *posing* the question, and "asking me to ask" sounds ugly. "Begging" is a natural enough word to use, since it echoes "begging your pardon".

I should really note that beg comes from "beggen" which is Middle English, and without the Latin root. And laudre parsed my meaning.

I will leave it to y'all to decide if the absence of Garrus and Wrex in this Micro - and mention of a Garrus Vakarian in the Brave and the Bold episode - invited the reader to speculate, or left us importuning the authors for more details.

I'm actually working on a breakdown of the people who were with the original Normandy's special ops team and what, if anything, they're up to in 2406, when Shepard returns to Midgard from Valhalla. Not sure yet whether that will be a BPGD file or the basis for a (non-Mini) story.

The first story covers the events of Mass Effect 1, 2nd for ME2, 3rd for ME3, and the current and 4th story focuses on the events after the war. The author has plans for a fifth story and the series currently adds up to just over 1 million words and counting.
