"Recent Anime: Bakuon!! (was: Anybody watching Bakuon!! "

LAST EDITED ON Jun-12-16 AT 07:42 PM (EDT) I just think its a neat little show; I read somewhere that it's supposed to be a kind of take on Top Gear and I can honestly kinda see that.At the very least, Raimu-Sempai is totally a Stig cousin. Anyway, it's your basic slice of life school club show like K-On, or Girls Und Panzer, or Stella Women's Academy, but with motorcycles.
I think Gryphon might enjoy it, tho I don't recall him having any particular fondness for bikes... EDIT: decided to make this a bit more like the 'Recent Anime' threads of old, perhaps to get some more talk going; revamp follows: Hane Sakura is starting high school, and is riding her bicycle up the last of many hills to school when a motorcyclist pulls up beside her. What follows is another in the string of 'cute girls doing cute things related to after-school club activities' and I think it may be the funniest one since K-On! Clearly inspired by Top Gear (filtered through the lens of Japan and Girls Und Panzer) its currently streaming on Crunchyroll. I REALLY LIKE this show, and Raimu-Sempai is totally a Stig. Anyone else watching? |

>I just think its a neat little show; I read somewhere that it's >supposed to be a kind of take on Top Gear and I can honestly kinda see >that. Yeah, I chugged the existing 6 or so episodes over on Crunchyroll this weekend. And yeah, you can find images out on the web already mapping the girls to the guys. >At the very least, Raimu-Sempai is totally a Stig cousin. I'm of the opinion she's a deliberate shout-out. And yeah, you can find Raimu-Stig fanart out there already. >Anyway, it's your basic slice of life school club show like K-On, or >Girls Und Panzer, or Stella Women's Academy, but with motorcycles. With a big dollop of magic realism on top. Like talking transsexual Hondas and Jesus on the road to Aomori handing out the Holy Grail to deserving schoolgirls... >I think Gryphon might enjoy it, tho I don't recall him having any >particular fondness for bikes... I don't, myself, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I'd say it's at least looking at to see if it's to one's taste. -- Bob ------------------- My race is pacifist and does not believe in war. And I do believe that, as of today, Bakuon!! Has ended, in a lightly odd way. All in all, i think it was a cute little show, not nearly as, shall we say, WHOLESOME as many of the recent 'cute girls doing cute things as part of a cute after school club' shows, but with a certain internal consistency to its occasional....unwholesomeness. In the end, it really did feel like a decidedly odd series of Top Gear, and I hope a few more of you folks watch it. Once again, it's on Crunchyroll, so have at it! |
