"NXE: Apotheosis now"
|
Figured I'd start a new thread, to give people more places to spread posts out in. There isn't, really, awhole lot I can say, since I'm awed beyond the capacity for rational thought :) what a ride, what a ride....well worth the wait. what else can I say, really? there's were aprts that made me laugh, or cry, or want do do a victory dance...or reach through the screen and KILL something :) This is, I'd have to say, the best thing I've read (physical or electronic print) in...oh, several months, at least. what a ride, what a ride...

>So what happened to Dan? He's walking the earth like Caine from Kung Fu, wandering from place to place righting wrongs, doing good, you know the drill. Either that, or Durandal "recruited" him for whatever weird scheme he's up to now that he's free of the X-COM mainframe. Seriously? Sometimes it's best just to let some things remain mysterious. -- Mr. Fnord |

>Seriously? Sometimes it's best just to let some things remain >mysterious. I thought NXE:TMP was supposed to wrap up loose ends, not create more. Ah, well. It hasn't struck me until now, ninety minutes after finishing the story, exactly how freaking cool San is. Makes me wonder if Shinji really knows what he's getting himself into; also makes wonder if he'll care. Everything begins on April 1, doesn't it? Very nice touch. --Firefly |

Makes me wonder if >Shinji really knows what he's getting himself into; also makes wonder >if he'll care. > Yes, San is very cool, and Shinji has no clue what he's in for, but they're a good match. I think that of all the original characters in NXE, San is the one I'd like to meet, just because she would never be boring :)Offsides I have looked into the abyss, and the abyss looked also back into me. Neither of us liked what we saw. EPU RCW #π #include <stdsig.h> |

>No. Weapons are ultimately used to harm others, and end lives. The >end result might be that lives are saved, but *never* think that >they're used for any purpose more glorious then harming things. Vimes turned the thing over and over in his hands. It looked vaguely like a long-handled hammer, or perhaps a strangely made telescope. What it was, basically, was a spring. That's all a crossbow was, after all. "It's a devil to load," he said. "I nearly ruptured myself cocking it against a rock. You'd only get one shot." "But it's the shot no one expects, mhm, mhm." Vimes nodded. You could even conceal this thing down your pants, although the thought of all that coiled power that close would require nerves of steel and other parts of steel, too, if it came to it. "This is not a weapon. This is for killing people," he said. "Uh . . . most weapons are," said Inigo. "No, they're not. They're so you don't have to kill people. They're for . . . for having. For being seen. For warning. This isn't one of those. It's for hiding away until you bring it out and kill people in the dark. . . ." --- from The Fifth Elephant by Terry Pratchett, which I can say with certainty was not an influence on NXE but which, nontheless, I was reminded of by the statement above Redneck Kris Overstreet, aka Redneck Gaijin http://www.wlpcomics.com White Lightning Productions - huge tracts of land for sale

Okay I just got NXE: AN about, hmmm, 8 hours ago, and I re-red NXE and NXE:AN in one marathon sitting, Dammmmnnnnnn! I sat there for 10 minutes thinking, if only there was more, (Scene of the NXE team screaming "No, No more NXE!") Anyways Kudos to every one, and I thought it was touching, Immortalising Rachel that way. May those who have passed on live forever in our memories. Shadowcat Interesting, I seem to have lost a couple of days somewhere. |
