INTERIOR: An apartment sits empty, somewhere in the galaxy. It's obviously occupied by a man, and that man is obviously a bachelor. Empty Hungry Humanoid packets mingle with empty takeout containers and the occasional beer can. It's not disgustingly messy, just random. Copies of Aviation Week & Space Technology share coffee table space with Maxim.A giant, black, old-fashioned Bakelite telephone rings the giant, bright, old-fashioned ring you would expect. A similarly ancient answering machine sits next to the phone. Behind them both on the small table where they sit rests the glossy helmet of a fighter pilot (the kind that goes with CVR-3 armor).
The machine answers the phone on the third ring.
