... it's World Goth Day today. In commemoration of this event, I would like to reminisce about the time the late Derek Bacon and I went to New Wave night at Man Ray, a goth club in Cambridge. He wore khakis and a purple satin shirt—this purple satin shirt, in fact. He teamed this combination with a very large gold-spray-painted cardboard ankh, hung around his neck with a length of plastic movie-theater chain, Flavor Flav clock-style. I was dressed as the Sandman. The Golden Age Sandman. At least one of the goths got the joke, and his reaction made my night. --G. -><- Benjamin D. Edit - dear lord, you don't mean the purple and yellow wacky-underpants version, do you...? In Xanadu did Kubla Khan A stately pleasure-dome decree Where Alph, the sacred river, ran Through caverns measureless to man Down to a sunless sea |
