Oh, now that one was nice. Good music, good funny background stuff e.g. the classic game consoles showing up. There's just... <snrk> Anorak Assault!?!!??!!! <falls over laughing> -- Unable to save the day: File is read-only. |

So I got pointed at that link via different channels, but yeah -- kickstart this already, I'm shoving my wallet at the screen but nothing's happening, etc. That said, this other video by the same band (live action, not animated): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJ2LUrXxa1o is giving me very strong Kaitlyn vibes. --sofaspud -- |

You know, now that you mention it, I'm not sure Kate's ever used a keytar on screen. Early on, hiding behind the emplaced keyboards was part of her stage persona, and I can't think of a time she might've used one since she went Full Frontwoman long about Symphony 3. That might be a thing to explore later. :) (Mugi has one, a Korg RK-100—canonically the original model that was just a straight-up MIDI controller, since the modern RK-100S built-in-synthesizer version came out after K-On! was made—though it only appears in the season 1 ending credits.) Of course, in real life nobody makes a left-handed keytar, but I suppose that's less of an issue for keyboard players than it is for guitarists. --G. -><- Benjamin D. Well, true, but thinking about it, I realized that the situation with a keyboard is a little bit different. See, with a guitar, the roles of the player's two hands are distinct—a guitarist wants to be doing the picking with the dominant hand and the fingering with the other, so the instrument has to be completely the other way around for a left-handed one. With a keyboard, it doesn't matter. The keys are always going to be in the same order, with pitch ascending from left to right. So apart from the fact that holding a keytar like a right-handed guitar would feel awkward, it wouldn't really make a difference—the operating-the-keys part is going to be the same anyway. --G. also, if she was building it in high school, she'd have to remember to lock the workshop so Liza couldn't get at the prototype... -><- Benjamin D. It's 2 am. WELL. It's _3_ am. I have been working since 0600. That explains why my brain is desperate to know how much blam to the ounce a properly constructed keytar for Hoffmanites would have. |

"Kate's so left-handed she can't even use righty scissors." You do have a point, though - requiring a left-handed keytar is several steps past requiring left-handed scissors. Apparently there's some controllers there that...well, I don't understand musical terms, but they do something useful if Wikipedia is to be trusted. So it's possible that Kate would find a value in a left-handed version if she wanted more than just the keyboard. Peter Eng -- Insert humorous comment here. |
