<snrk> I've heard of this a few times, but I think this is the first time I've seen the whole thing.

FWIW, I think the most significant thing I ever downloaded to my computer is a 10-minute sound file. Gene Kranz in one ear, Charlie Duke in the other. From a bit after PDI to just after the landing. Gives me chills every time I play it.

I've had it in that directory on the EPU website for years, just waiting for today. :)

This just made me think of something, which I then mused about on Twitter but will put here too: One of the great things about the authentic Apollo tapes, as opposed to the various film and TV recreations, is that no one would ever cast an actor who sounds like the real Gene Kranz. There's just something about the business of producing a movie or TV show that militates against a main character with that Archduke Franz Nerdinand accent, and with all love to Ed Harris, the character really isn't quite Kranz without that. :)

(Similarly, no one would cast an actor who sounds like John Young, because the idea in television is that the audience understands what the characters are saying, and nobody ever understood John Young except maybe Mike Collins...)

You've just done very interesting things to the voice I hear the next time I dig out my copy of Failure Is Not An Option...

And on a more somber note, Chris Kraft is gone.
