"Hi"

Hiya. I'm actually a returning member after a few years away. I'm Gau, and I'm currently a 3rd year undergrad in Japanese Language and Literature (possibly soon to be a 1st year grad student.) I've been following EPU since about the beginning of Symphony 2, and I'm constantly amazed at the fact that the Symphony characters, especially those imported from Utena, have developed into something like real people, rather than pain-filled shells barely holding on like in so many other fanfics.

To not put too fine a point on it, reading EPU is what put me on the horse again. Being around here (along with some not too pretty interactions with forumgoers in the past) was what made me realize that I needed to grow up, and that I was long overdue. Seeing Utena, Kaitlyn, and Anthy break free of the chains of abuse and violation made me feel I could do the same as well, rather than convincing myself it was what I wanted out of life. It made me think about what I did want out of my own life, and for various reasons I've ended up in school after some hiatus, and my life seems to be back on track. Plus it made me a Journey fan.

So, I'd like to thank all the EPU writers for giving that to not just me, but the world. Regardless of what other people say about it, I've yet to find a UF story I hate (even "Cybertron Dreams".)

So, what about me? I've lately become very interested in translation, as well as literature studies (particularly effects of post-modernism on Japanese pop literature, as well as comparisons of the lists of names extant in a variety of sources of medieval literature.) I'm also interested in music theory, cosmology, Military strategy and doctrine, old Norse texts, and various anime and manga series, both what's new and, now that I read Japanese at a 2nd-3rd grade level or so, as well as a basic level of Heian period Japanese grammar, some of the older stuff.

Well, I hope that I'll be able to bring something useful and relevant to the forums in the near future!
