"A Nakatomi Xmas, Varusteleka Style"
|
Yeah. Elsewhere on the forum is a thread about Varusteleka, Finnish surplus store, favorite of Ian and Karl from InRange/Forgotten Weapons. It mentions Salmiakkikoskenkorva, Swedish gingerbread cutters, an actually playable Nazi Card...an a couple of shoulder or chest patches they have. Well, the other day, a friend showed me this new patch and I had to take a picture and show it here. http://seanchaithe.net/images/Hohoho.jpg?x Amusement was had. ...! I ALSO want a bag like that except it's too white. Also, "sail cloth", to me whose parents had a sail boat for years and years, mentally equates to nylon/polyester and no.
If it'd been like Duluth Trading Firehose bags, I would have been all over that bag, unable to help myself. ...! Stoke Mandeville, Esq & The Victorian Ballsmiths "Nobody Want Verdigris-Covered Balls!" |

And FWIW, the material (specifically Dacron, in the case of the black one) is quite stiff; it feels kind of like waxed canvas, or perhaps really thick Tyvek (which is, like Dacron, a polyethylene-based textile). It's not like the kind of floppy lightweight parachute-like fabric you'd find on a small sailboat, or a windsurfing board, or the like, if that's what your mental image is. My EDC-1 can stand up on its own when empty. --G. -><- Benjamin D.
