"Freespacers?"
|
I'm looking for some miscellaneous source material about the Freespacers Guild from the Star Wars universe, which I assume is the source of UF's Free Spacers. My google-fu is weak, would someone please point this blind person in the proper direction? Jeanne

I don't think your assumption is sound - AFAIK the Confederate Freespacers' Alliance had no specific basis in Star Wars, but I'm not its creator, so I can't be 100% sure about that. Either way, I don't know a dang thing about the Free Spacers Guild, but here is what (very) little Wookieepedia has on the matter. --G. -><- Benjamin D. Yeah, I wasn't sure which came first, Star Wars non-movie references or Kris Overstreet's UF creations. Wookiepedia also has about a paragraph about the Free Spacer Fleet (with a couple battle actions mentioned) and basically a footnote reference to it being present at the Battle/Sacking of Coruscant. I'm hoping someone has more, but suspect this might be it. Jeanne

I vaguely recall that the personality of the Freespacers is based in part on the Dendarii Free Mercenaries (from the Vorkosigan books by Lois McMaster Bujold), while its technology comes from the Star Wars universe. However, my memory being what it is, I may have dreamed that. Peter Eng -- Insert humorous comment here. |

Thanks for the tip. "Dendarii Mercenaries" turned up a couple references to names appearing in UF as Freespacers: Bel Thorne, Elli Quinn and Ky Tung. The uniforms described in the Wikia are a reasonable match. Good enough for me to think that's the source of the people (or at least the names). Jeanne
