Figures, though, after all of the hype on here, out of the two eps I saw, one had *no* Dorothy, and the other had minimal Dorothy. LAST EDITED ON Apr-18-01 AT 04:07 PM (EDT) >Figures, though, after all of the hype on here, out of the two eps I >saw, one had *no* Dorothy, and the other had minimal Dorothy. >(episode 9 and 12 I think, but don't quote me) This afternoon's regular-time episode (ie, not the Midnight Run) is Act 11, "Daemonseed", the episode this thread's quote is from. It focuses quite heavily on Dorothy, Roger, and the relationship between them. If you've any way of catching it, do. It's battling for my "favorite" spot with Act 8, "Missing Cat" (with an honorable mention for Act 9, "Beck Comes Back", for one particular scene). Sounds like the ones you've caught were Act 10, "Winter Night Phantom", and Act 12, "Enemy Is Another Big". "Winter Night Phantom" is a pretty good episode, its utter lack of Dorothy notwithstanding, but I can't help but wish they'd have held off on doing episodes focusing solely on supporting cast, what with the extremely limited run of the series. And, of course, "Enemy Is Another Big" is part 1 of the two-part finale, so it's bound to be a bit hectic... --G. -><- Benjamin D. If you've any way of catching it, do.I'm seriously thinking of attaching my TiVo to our VCR and dumping the run to tapes... well, after I bump the video quality of the Season Pass we've got to something higher than "MPEG pixilated crap-o-vision." Fell asleep during "Daemonseed," actually; not the fault of the ep, the fault of the Darvocet I took for my headache before settling in to watch. "Missing Cat" was worth it just for Norman busting out the heavy artillery, and "Beck Comes Back" for the negotiations. ;) Ard |

Programmed the vcr before I left for work this morning. :) Glad I did now. >Sounds like the ones you've caught were Act 10, "Winter Night >Phantom", and Act 12, "Enemy Is Another Big". "Winter Night Phantom" Yes and yes. I got 9 and 10 confused. >is a pretty good episode, its utter lack of Dorothy notwithstanding, >but I can't help but wish they'd have held off on doing episodes >focusing solely on supporting cast, what with the extremely limited >run of the series. Wasn't quite expecting the overall style, which was a nice suprise. And I certainly didn't expect to see everyone's face catch on fire on something running on the CN. All in all very cool indeed. On a side note, while waiting for the Midnight Run ep to come on last night, instead of flipping around I just left it on CN and watched Dragonball Z. No offense to any possible fans out there, but it gave me a headache. Is it so...fractured from how CN cuts it to air, or is it all that repetative and frantic? I thought I had ADHD for 30 minutes. :) --------------------------- "I think we used too much." --------------------------- Chad Collier Digital Bitch J. Random VFX Company |

And I certainly didn't expect to see >everyone's face catch on fire on something running on the CN. All in >all very cool indeed. > Yeah, the fire thing took me by surprise, too. CN's run has been remarkably unmolested, though, from all I've heard. The only changes I've heard of have been to remove, not language or even violence (with the exception of some digital de-blooding), but religious imagery. ("Daemonseed" is the Christmas episode, and yet CN removed the one spot in the script where that is specifically mentioned in the Japanese version, and replaced the "Merry Xmas" end card with the usual "We have come to terms" one. Also, the code that shows up on Big O's boot-up screen is supposed to be "CAST IN THE NAME OF GOD, YE NOT GUILTY".) >On a side note, while waiting for the Midnight Run ep to come on last >night, instead of flipping around I just left it on CN and watched >Dragonball Z. Personally, I think it's just that bad. --G. -><- Benjamin D. Hutchins, Co-Founder, Editor in Chief, Netadmin Eyrie Productions, Unlimited http://www.eyrie-productions.com/

Yes, it is that bad. I can understand a fight going on for two eps, three eps tops. But a whole bloody week?!? The manga is just as bad. Reverend Hammer Glad he only bought two tankoubons of Dragonball...

It is MUCH better if you are heavily, heavily inebriated before sitting down to watch DBZ. then it doesn't *have* to make sense, it just has to be suitably noisy. Otherwise, yes, it really is that bad-- I've seen poorly-subbed bootlegs of something called "The Death of Evil Buu," and for all the beer I'd had, I still wasn't drunk enough for it to be worthwhile. But the horde of guys in "HELL" shirts (they'd died and gone to hell, of course) was amusing. Didn't realize Satan issued team-logo wear. Also, where in the heck does the bootup code from Big O come from? Or is it just random bad translation? I keep trying to parse it and failing miserably... >The best way to enjoy DBZ that I've found is to read the plot synopses >where all the fighting is turned into "they fight some more" Which would reduce the episode count from 400+ to, like, 10 (if that much).
