"Building blocks for the Sox/Jays game"

So, the World Series game featured in the Symphony had no shortage of female players, something we do not have today in the MLB.... but it is something that we could have NEXT WEEK!

http://espn.go.com/espnw/athletes-life/the-buzz/article/13130218/why-16-year-old-shortstop-first-woman-sign-mlb

you can read the details for yourself, but the salient point is:

Quote
a 16-year-old from France who made history this weekend when she apparently became the first woman ever to be added to MLB's international registration list. As a result, she can be signed by a Major League Baseball team as soon as July 2

Heh! Well, sort of. I mean, she could be signed next week, and I don't wanna be a wet blanket, but baseball players aren't like, say, hot basketball prospects, where they sometimes jump straight from high school to the NBA. Best-case scenario, she'd be pro in four or five years, and probably take another few to reach the majors.

Still, I agree that that's pretty badass, and I hope the above is indeed what we see. And that she plays in the American League, so I might actually see her play sometime. :)

(And she's French! I didn't even know they played baseball in France.)
