"Katsucon past..."
 
   Hi, there. I have a quick question for our illustrious writers/moderators/etc. I was at this last Katsucon, and unlike the previous one I don't seem to recall you all being there, despite Mr. Trussell's mention of it on his ranting page. I was wondering if you all actually managed to make it and I'm blind, or what. =P

   Zoner and I were, in fact, there... Gryph had to cancel for budgetary reasons. I spent most of the con taking digicam photos and/or hanging around Artist's Alley.

(Normally, I'd say "if you remember seeing a blue-haired guy, that was me"... but that doesn't work so well at anime cons. :))

And you can usually find me in the industry panels. We were also randoming handing out WPU Carddisc CD-ROMs.

I wasn't on the fanfic panel this time - I contacted Ryan to late to be on it (he'd filled it already).

Maybe we should have a "con appearances" page. OTOH, maybe not. I only decided not to go to Katsu like the week before.

It looks like we'll be at Anime Central. If I blew that one off, Truss wouldn't be able to get there, and that would make him sad.

I've never been - too many cons, not enough time/money. Last year I did Katsu, ACen, A-Kon, AX, and Otakon. I was going to do Neko-Con but I didn't - I had a reason at the time, but I forget why now...

This year I did Katsu primarily because Pocky was coming back from Japan. I'm planning on going to ACen since Truss and Gryph are going and they're my housemates, and Ryan said I can get on this fanfic panel. I go to AX every year, so that's a given.

But that might be it for me this year. Last year doing that many cons I spent more than I really should have, and I burned more vacation time that I really wanted to. (I usually take Fri-Mon off for a weekend like that.) Since Truss and I were laid off last Thursday, right now I don't know what new job I'll have so I don't know my budget for cash and vacation time. And I want to do a non-anime-con vacation this year.

Rats, I was hoping to get on this panel again. And 2 incredibly talkative people are just one too much for a fanfic panel. Ah well.

By the way, if any of you do happen to stop by Otakon this year, Neal Leyendecker has asked me to get together the panelists once more. I'm damn sure I'll be on that one. If there's one thing I discovered last year, it's that I make a lousy audience member. ;-) An Eyrie presence would be quite welcome. And I can offer cool incentives to panelists this year, too. :-D

   I'll definitely be at Otakon, since I've already registered for it. I don't know whether Gryph or Rat plan to attend. I've never really considered myself panel material, though. :)

That reminds me, though, I need to reserve a hotel room for that con real soon now...

   As one of the folks who help staff Animazement, I for one would love to see any of the Eyrie folks drop by. Of course, considering that we generally don't have any industry panels and still haven't managed to put together a fanfic panel, I dunno if there's enough appeal to bring any of ya'll down to North Carolina. (Though, I suppose the lure of a day trip to Charlotte for NASCAR a go-go is always a possibility...)

However, I'd love to meet up with any of the other board participants at Animazement this year; I'll likely bring it up closer to the con.
