"Question On Exodus 1:5"
|
Well, I've have read the entire series once, and re-reading it now I have stumbled upon a strange passage that I couldn't explain no matter how I turned it. So now I have to rely on the so precious answers of the almost divine presences we indignantly call authors. Why am I being sarcastic? Oh well... Anyway here is the quote from the very end of 1:5; /QUOTE "You would have sacrificed your life for mine?" "If necessary." "Why?" Rei fixed him with an even gaze from her deep red eyes, one he couldn't read at all, though it seemed to stare right past his own eyes, straight to the place in the back of his head where his feelings lived, and play a brief toccata on them. "Because you belong to me," she said unequivocally; then she turned and left the room, leaving two astounded young men staring after her. /UNQUOTE Now, if anyone has any idea what the hell that meant, please let me know. PS: Please refrain from suggesting that Rei has passed to the Dark Moogle Side and/or that she wants DJ as her new wu. My friend already suggested it, and Toji's condition after episode 18 is a treat next to the shape he is in now. |

Gryphon wrote: She's a Cherub, a guardian angel. She had claimed DJ as one of her protected flock. See also Exodus 2:7, which is where Jon realizes this. "What do you know, I finally figured it out." Of course, he didn't realize how literal the notion was at the time...
