"Odd thought on Aya's relations"

I find myself wondering if Ayami Nakajima is related at all to Subaru Nakajima, from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS. They have very similar personalities, and having the same last name is rarely a coincidence in UF. Though I'm wondering what Aya looks like, I haven't seen a picture or description of her anywhere (though I haven't yet read the entire thing, and mostly just read Symphony of the Sword).

>Nakajima, from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS.

Aya comes from a crushed-by-Paramount Star Trek fan comic that was produced quite a number of years ago now, and Nakajima is, I believe, a pretty common Japanese surname. I don't know precisely how recent this Nanoha thing is, but it seems unlikely to me that the author of Star Trekking could have been making a reference thereto.

In a metafictional sense, she's more likely to be related in some fashion to Ken "White Hawk" Nakajima, a motorcycle cop operating in the Bokuto region of Nekomikoka on Tomodachi. Interestingly, Officer Nakajima knows someone else who's part-Kryptonian and mostly Japanese, but they aren't related. There must have been a reasonably sizable Kryptonian expat community on Tomodachi a few generations back.

The first season of Nanoha aired in '04, the second (A's) in '05. The two 13-episode runs were successful enough that the 26-ep StrikerS was made in 07 as a ten-years-later timeskip that has the original cast as mentors to a new batch of characters - the latter including Subaru. A sequel manga, six years later yet, is currently running but as yet, AFAIK, untranslated.

A lot of people think StrikerS has pacing problems, though personally I never noticed any problems, but out of - call it ten people? - I've discussed the first two seasons with, only one has thought they were anything other than excellent.

Ja, -n

Oh, yeah, no chance, then. The comic Aya comes from dates to at least the mid-1990s, if not earlier.

The copyright on the Antartic Press printing of Star Trekker gives it as copyright Atelier Lana 1985-1991 and the US publishing copyright of 1991. I was one of the lucky ones that bought one of the 3400 copies in 1991! Hope that helps.

Wow, even longer ago than I thought. I keep forgetting I'm old.
