And, in my opinion, you took a whiny (fill in pejorative comment of choice) and made him likeable, and eventually a hero.

I appreciate it.

I second that motion! Trully an excellent job, too. You gave him a spine without sending him totally out of character.

Though Shinji with a spine is itself a little bit jarring. :)

Semirelated note: I watched all of NGE recently. In the space of a couple days.

I think that episodes 25 and 26 would have worked better if End of Evangelion had been spread around them. A good 80% of EoE would've been episode 24.5, and the last 20% or so episode 27.

Just on their own, ep 25 and 26 were worthless. Yeah, we get more or less told what Complementation is, but not how it came about. It was just suddenly *happening*.

Of course, this is my post-viewing analysis, since my brain went into a protective shutdown mode about halfway through End of Eva and rational thought decided to go looking for pickles and cheese.

And through the whole thing, Shinji was a dork. Asuka was the only one with a spine. Too bad in the series she was a bitch.

Only likable character was Maya. Of course, our Fearless Leaders remedied all of the bad parts in NXE...a feat few would have considered possible. (Shinji likable? The mind boggles!)

what is everyones problem with the TV ending I found it worked better than the royal mind f**k that is EoE, yes I have seen both and perfectly perfere the TV ending, but I guess that is cause I figured that it was the third impact before watching the Movie.
