"Question for Gryphon..."

I've been re-reading the first couple of Symphony of the Sword stories tonight, and I remembered one thing about Christmas Rose that has kept me up a few nights wondering: How did Corwin and Utena explain the broken snow shovel? I cannot believe what my half-drugged mind thinks of when I'm trying to sleep! Boshi moi!

I neither know nor care how they explained it. It wasn't important, nor was it an opportunity for significant comedy, so I left it out and didn't bother devising an explanation.

While I'm being tetchy, your .sig is dumb.

Darn old rainy November nights... they always make me grumpy.

Dumb question then, sorry. The sig is a line from one of my stories, something a drunken biker-mercenary would yell to a bunch of bad guys. I'll change it tommorow. Sorry.

Wow, I'm edgier than I thought. I actually meant that to come off as sort of a jovial poke, but instead it comes off like I'm tearing you a new waste disposal unit. Sorry about that...

It is kind of a dumb .sig, though. :)

Don't worry, I'm used to it. Back in the military comic chat a several years ago, this woman named Southwind was always kicking me. After a while, I learned to get thick skinned. Well, that and I'm not confrontational.

I know, any suggestions? I maybe I should try movie quotes....

I dunno, really... I used to have a large number of .sig files, each with one quote from something or other I'd encountered in my travels, but over time I stopped using them and eventually ended up with the one I've been using for the last several years, which contains, of all things, a quote from some stereophile newsgroup's FAQ (as used as a sample in a remix of an Information Society song). I can't use that here, though, because the little ASCII graphic that goes with it only works with fixed-pitch fonts, so here I just have the stripped-down all-text information .sig.

Hmm, I'm gonna go through my list of movies to see if I can come up with a good line or something. Bad thing about some of my ideas, only my closest friends and family members have any idea what I'm talking about. And even then, my Grandmother, as much as I love her, is not known for her comprehension.

Well, IIRC didn't they tell UFGryph the whole story behind Mike Carpenter? And the fact that he dropped by that afternoon and tried to force his way in? Doesn't that pretty much explain the shovel?

Yeah, but Corwin & Utena stalled a bit, to give Kate some time to collect herself. (That sounded a little too insensitive...)

I mean before Kate told her parents about the um, violation she suffered from. I still cannot believe that kept me up all night.

Still trying to come up with a new sig.

In an attempt to pre-empt a serious rant...

--DON'T-- go there. He's served his purpose, and is no longer wanted nor necessary as part of the story. Gryphon may have changed his mind, but he was rather vehement on the subject in the discussions after Christmas Rose was posted.

Before you kick-start Gryph into another Rant...

NO. There is no way that little prick is ever turning up again. Back in the Christmas Rose thread, we were discussing ways for Carpenter to die a most painful death, and we were told he wouldn't return, not even for that. And to be honest, good riddance. He's done enough damage already.

As I recall, MegaZone also promised account suspensions if anybody persisted in annoying the Eyrie writers on getting Carpenter back into the story and let him die a most violent death.

As others have pointed out, we've already had this out. If you want to see the discussion for yourself, it's here:

Be advised, this is a long thread (136 posts). The relevant portion is post 78 and the seven posts immediately below it.
