2. "RE: Star-Crossed Part Four: Bad Day in Goodyear"

I just finished the fourth part, and I haven't looked at the forums since before the first, so I'll just put everything I've got to say about the series up to now here. I really liked it. I don't know about any "Mass Effects", since I don't have an Xbox of any kind, and don't use Windows, but I liked all that too. "Quarian" and the description rang a bell, and I looked it up, careened across the wiki for an hour read that briefly, and went on. This story kinda makes me want to save up for 360. Though I know nothing of the canon analogue that I assume exists, I liked this Tali. Reading the story, I imagined this as a series of episodes of a very long-running TV show detailing UF Gryphon's exile, wherein the exiled Gryphon has many such adventures, interacting with many different persons and groups who discover who he is and come to accept his innocence. In the later seasons, many watchers wonder who is left in the galaxy who still believes in his guilt (quite a lot of people, probably; a galactic community is pretty large). The ending theme is the 'The Lonely Man' that Hulk series with Lou Ferrigno. Apologies for the non-sequitur. Anyway, I liked the setting, I liked the chain of events, I liked the characters, and, most of all, I liked not being left on the cliffhanger of part 3. Hoo boy. Not that I wouldn't have taken it over no part 3--I protest, but I really do like serial format. Anyway, part 4 left at a very satisfying point. I look forward to seeing how that mess with Blue Sun turns out in the next part, when it comes. |

Oh, hey, I missed a trick. Ah, well, sleep is for the weak, but I never pretended to be strong. > "Aw," Millandra said nastily. "I suppose I ought to feel bad > for you, kid. You're not the first teenage runaway to fall for a > lowlife like him and end up paying for it. Tough break. But that's > life. Now say goodbye," she added, leveling her blaster. "I've got > work to - "
One is tempted to wonder what motivation the good folk of Goodyear had for picking this lady as their leader. Her priorities strike me as... questionable. > Before she could finish deciding whether to chance it anyway, a > fat beam of brilliant blue light momentarily linked Kastrel's chestplate > to the sky above the town hall, or at least that's what it looked like > from inside. The sergeant looked down at the neat, fist-sized, circular > black hole it left when it had passed, opened his mouth to say > something, and then toppled over and sprawled on his back. > From up on the roof, Tali heard Gryphon's voice, slightly > distorted as if by a PA amplifier: > "Bigger guns, eh?"
...Ooh. That's a nice entrance. > Gryphon nodded. "That was always my take on it." He eyed > Mordin. "You said 'at the time'. That was 67 years ago, Mordin."
For those who came in late, or otherwise don't know Mass Effect, Salarians can usually be safely expected to kick it by age 40. > "High-energy event in grid sector 337E," Mordin told him. > "Consistent with spacecraft launch. Since then, no energy signatures of > any kind, no comm traffic. Obvious conclusion: Blue Suns have left > Halo."
This is unexpected. Instinctively, I think that that's probably not a good thing. > "You cooked. Dinner. For me," Tali said slowly. > "Yes." > "Why?"
*gigglefit* > But for all that time sometimes seemed to stand still for the > residents of Halo, in the rest of the galaxy it kept passing.
*dramatic music sting* Ja, -n

>One is tempted to wonder what motivation the good folk of Goodyear had >for picking this lady as their leader. She was the captain of the Goodyear Sojourner, and so a natural authority figure in most of their minds anyway, and she got them through the crash and the early "survival mode" phase alive. She's efficient, she gets things done, and if she's a tad bit ruthless, well, colony living is hard. Somebody's gotta be willing to make the tough decisions. Besides, they probably haven't seen her this pissed off. --G. -><- Benjamin D. LAST EDITED ON Mar-10-10 AT 02:49 PM (EST) *Cough* I've got some fanboy stuck in my head, gimme a sec here.*Squeee!* Tali's got a Cyclone!!! Hoookay, that's better. Anyways, this serial is unrolling nicely. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the next phase of the campaign plays out.
I wonder what assets the UF-Blue Suns can call upon for the retaking effort... ---- Now Playing: Don Felder-- Heavy Metal(Takin' A Ride)(Heavy Metal, 1981)
