"Ragnarok / Cephiro question"
|
Just a random question that came to me, while contemplating Utena's role as an EoJ: Now that we know Surtur is still trying to bring ragnarok to the universe, does the apocalypse extend to parallel dimensions as well? Is it like the Dark One coming out in the Wheel of Time, where if he comes out in one dimension he comes out everywhere? Hand in hand with this question is that of what exactley Cephiro's relationship with the UFstandard is. It somehow seems to be closer than some of the other alternate dimensions, like the Star Trek one in Split Infinitive. It has been refered to as the Tenth World, once in the story, and once in the newspage. Is that a reference to something? For some reason, I can't help but think of it as the equivalent of Avalon from classical mythology, ie. where the magic went (although I'm thinking more in terms of Rayearth than Utena.) And yes, I realize these response to these questions will probably be "Neener." Might as well try, though. -Nightmare Butterfly Can't wait to see if Utena gets a Majin. |

>Just a random question that came to me, while contemplating Utena's >role as an EoJ: Now that we know Surtur is still trying to bring >ragnarok to the universe, does the apocalypse extend to parallel >dimensions as well? We have no way of knowing. >Is it like the Dark One coming out in the Wheel of >Time, where if he comes out in one dimension he comes out everywhere? Having successfully avoided the Wheel of Time for over twenty-eight years now, I'd have to say the answer to this is a magnificently certain "I wouldn't know." >Hand in hand with this question is that of what exactley Cephiro's >relationship with the UFstandard is. To be explored further in its own time. >It has been refered to as the Tenth World, once in >the story, and once in the newspage. Is that a reference to something? In Norse mythology, there are nine worlds: Asgard (the world of the Aesir, the greater gods), Alfheim (home of the elves), Svartalfheim (home of the dark elves), Vanaheim (home of the Vanir, the lesser gods), Midgard (the world of man), Jotunheim (land of the giants), Hel (realm of the indifferent dead), Niflheim (real of the dishonored dead), and Muspelheim (real of the really, really bad dead). They are known, for reasons that ought to be obvious, as "The Nine Worlds". From what has been shown already, Cephiro seems to exist outside this continuum; the gods don't know what happens there, which indicates that the wisdom Odin gave his eye for doesn't extend to it as it does to, say, Midgard. On the other hand, it seems to combine features of Midgard (cars, for instance) with features of the higher planes (like, say, intrinsic magic). What does all this mean? We'll get to that. --G. -><- Benjamin D. Hutchins, Co-Founder, Editor in Chief, Netadmin Eyrie Productions, Unlimited http://www.eyrie-productions.com/

Jeez, now I wish I had indulged my interest in Norse Mythology more when I had the chance. But you have to admit, Utena and Edison open up the door for the all-mighty authors to bring in or create characters and worlds that might be in direct contrast (if possible) to UF, since the two before mentioned "aren't from around here." You might just get two Gryphons from different dimensions, except the other is green and slimey and wishes to take over all he sees and convert it into little bits of lead! Ugh...bad Star Trek flashback. "Which one of you has our Mr. Worf?" ~Yes, the CHILD. |

Instead of Gryphon, Megazone, and Rerob founding the UFiverse, you have Dragyn, MacroArea, and Unrob who destroyed their own universe and seek to do the same to the Multiverses. Visions of a submissive Yuri and a dimension hopping, rebel Kei(1) spring to mind as well! Not to mention Chris(2) "City Slicker" Overstreet, corporate goon of GENOM and best buddy of Dr. Clay. LAST EDITED ON Nov-08-01 AT 05:17 PM (EST) >If my Evil Skippy is anything more than 'just good friends' with >Octopus-head, he will just plain have to die. I just mean buddy in the platonic, "Hey, dude, let's go build AND market that implosion cannon" sense of the word. Definitely *NOT* what you're thinking of. I apologize if it came out like that. My intent was to find an opposite to your original business dealings with Washuu, back when she designed all the RebelTech stuff. Again, I am quite embaraced if that sounded like anything else. Static-Pulse Note to self: Poser 4, Zatanna, and BBS posting is not a good combination. - the most impulsive post alive DarkBeast.com |

That was just plain scary . Hmm...on a sidenote , it's a fact that in most series out there the doppelganger/evil twin thing was done at least one (most worthy of mention being that one episode of early Star Trek . Spock with a mustache ... yuck . And the uniforms ...urgh ...) . Seeing that the doppelganger thingamabob had already been used in UF once , I wouldn't really expect another evil-Gryph to show up again (or anytime soon) . What happened in Core4 on the other hand ... (hmm...UF cast meets their UF , HL and possibly even NXE counterparts) -Griever "No! I am not Prince Hamlet, nor was meant to be; Am an attendant lord, one that will do To swell a progress, start a scene or two, Advise the prince; no doubt, an easy tool, Deferential, glad to be of use, Politic, cautious, and meticulous; Full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse; At times, indeed, almost ridiculous-- Almost, at times, the Fool."

>(hmm...UF cast meets their UF , HL and possibly even NXE counterparts) That would consist of Truss looking at Truss and going, "So... food?" You know, you could shove Gryph into a parallel dimension with, like, five other different Gryphons, in a very Stan Lee style. They could all go at it for a good five hours and then attempt to go to their respective homes, at which point alternate Zoner number 180, who, for some reason, goes by the ODD and UNUSUAL name Brian (urgh, don't hurt me) who then attempts to kill them ALL, at which point Gryph is sucked home. Or it could be MegaZone himself, I suppose, or Redneck, maybe even Kei or Yuri. Ugh, now this is gonna run around my unevolved mind for the rest of the night. ~Yes, the CHILD. |

And who, despite this and her pretunaturally(sp?) sharp vision, is still unable to even scare the proper notes as they come by. And, of course, there's always Larry "T-type" Mann, corporate terrorist and charismatic leader of the New Communism movement, posessed of a flashy and mediacentric command style, who does all the right things for the sake of his own power and advancement, without regard for human life, even his own.
