Crossfire
Allegiance:
Autobot
Function: Aerospace Squadron Commander

"Stay on target."

PROFILE: Crossfire was built in 2391 as part of a joint Autobot-Wedge Defense Force experimental project codenamed BLUE HARVEST. The brainchild of Autobot Air Guardian Jetfire and WDF General Patricia "Terror" Currier, BLUE HARVEST was intended to build up the Autobots' aerospace forces and increase force integration between the two allies. Its centerpiece was a collaboration between Autobot engineers, most prominently Wheeljack, and the Zeta Cygni-based aerospace firm Incom, famed builders of the Z-95 Headhunter and T-65 Dragonfly starfighters - the latter of which Crossfire's vehicle mode is patterned after.

After being Sparked by Vector Sigma, Crossfire was detached to the WDF for combat training - another facet of BLUE HARVEST. He flew hundreds of sorties and dozens of combat missions, some with a human pilot on board, some on his own, learning to fight the WDF way. Though a youngster by Autobot standards, he's an experienced, professional soldier who takes pride in his steady, battle-hardened nerve and skill. Trained as a leader, not just a commander, he protects his subordinates and insists on strict wing discipline. Most who encounter him today assume that he's at least a Fourth War veteran who's been retooled into a modern alternate form.

ABILITIES: Crossfire's alternate mode is an Incom T-65F Dragonfly space superiority fighter, one of the most capable starfighters of the present day. His underlying Cybertronian technology and direct control increase that form's already excellent performance to levels very few human-piloted Dragonflies can match. Armed with four fire-linkable blaster cannons and a pair of proton torpedo launchers, he has very respectable firepower in fighter mode, outgunning a typical Decepticon Sky Soldier nearly two to one, and his configurable deflector shields and relatively heavy armor make him highly survivable.

In robot mode, he loses his firepower advantage but gains superb close combat capabilities. Trained by Blitzwing in the ways of robotic battle known collectively as the Panzerkunst upon his return to Cybertron from WDF service, Crossfire can use his specially constructed crystal-resonance blastersword as both a devastating close-quarters weapon and a superior defensive screen.

WEAKNESSES: Crossfire loses his proton torpedo launch capabilities and the use of two of his four blasters in robot mode, limiting his ranged firepower considerably. His robot-mode strength is unexceptional. In fighter mode, his deflector shields draw power from his engines, such that his balance between defensive strength and maneuver speed require constant attention. He can become preoccupied with the welfare of his wingmates to the point where he fails to pay as much attention to his own safety as he should. Also, he has a disconcerting habit of disabling his targeting assistance computer when lining up critical proton torpedo shots, preferring to rely on instinct and skill.

You'll get caught up in the....

Is it just about right to assume that he looks like the X-Wing from the Star Wars/Transformers line then? Well, just missing the whole Luke Skywalker head?

His head does look like he's wearing an Incom test pilot's helmet. Whoever designed the robot modes for the BLUE HARVEST prototypes was something of a wag.

No falling down laughing for me(Co-workers get a little skittish if you do that too often at work), but a good chuckle none the less. I'm interested to see where he might show up on screen.

It would have been an accidental shooting, had he not reloaded... twice.
