"Funny thing happened today..."
|
I climb in my car and the radio starts up and, after a second, I recognize the tune... Sort of. Now, until that moment I hadn't known that anyone had ever covered Land of Confusion, let alone that a cut had become popular enough to actually fight its way onto the airwaves. Now that I've done the research after getting home, I can safely say that I have no clue who Disturbed are or what kind of music they usually play, but this example of their work suggests something rather loud and gnashing... which, surprisingly, works for the song. If NXE 2035 is going to continue the tradition of opening with this song, I think we could do a lot worse than this version. Ja, -n |

LAST EDITED ON Aug-21-06 AT 09:45 PM (EDT) >Personally, I am rather surprised that Disturbed, which plays 'heavy >metal', did such a good job covering Genesis, which plays 'rock'. I >was VERY pleasantly surprised at the quality of the cover, and am >considering purchasing the CD. Agreed. I'm listening to a low-quality streaming version right now (from Disturbed's MySpace site at http://www.myspace.com/disturbed ) and yeah, it's real good. I think I'm going to be buying that CD just for this track. Oh, and for folks looking for something interesting, this page has a little thread comparing it with the original, plus a link to a mashup of the two (link here for those who don't want to bother looking for it). The mashup is... interesting. (Edit: fixed minor markup problem) -- Bob ------------------- For Jor-El so loved the Earth, he sent his only begotten son... |
