"Question for the Shaper of Worlds"
|
So I was re-reading Christmas Rose and I came upon something which piqued my curious nature. It is a the bit about Lesser Mazinger after Kate opens/is surprised by him. When he'd originally conceived it, it hadn't had a real purpose - he just thought she would find it funny, entertaining to have around. Since yesterday he'd added a certain level of functionality, but it wasn't the kind of thing he was going to stand around talking about on Christmas Eve, right in front of everybody. So my query is thus: Does Gryph intend to explain this at some point or was it just in to give the narrative a little more dimension? I expect Gryphon to be cryptic and somewhat unhelpful as is his right and wont. I can't blame him. Thanks Bodhi "...martial artist = code of honor = mistreat without fear of repercussion..." -- Gryphon I like that line, I find it to be more and more a truism.

(I think LM has a one-shot hyperpulse generator that basically will scream at Gryphon, "I just blew up, Kaitlyn is in trouble, come NOW!" But that's just my theory.) -- Geoff Depew - Mephron Haberdasher to Androids, Malakite of Lightning and Angel of Tech Support Professionals (They won't give me LARTs, they say that's restricted to Michael.) -- Jen Dantes - Darth Mephron Haberdasher to Androids, Dark Lady of Sith Tech Support. >I expect that if it becomes needful, we'll find out. Until then, >we're left to wonder... You're probably right. It just struck me that he hadn't resolved that and I'm a curious bastard. >(I think LM has a one-shot hyperpulse generator that basically will >scream at Gryphon, "I just blew up, Kaitlyn is in trouble, come NOW!" >But that's just my theory.) I was thinking LM would re-configure into a Type One phaser or a nine-mill slugger... I kinda like your idea better. Hyperpulse, then Gryph, Kei, Hammer, Megazone, and Corwin show up dressed for killin' <grin> And the Duelists not very far behind. Amanda and Juri alone would be damn near overkill. The fact that UF Gryph wouldn't leave any worth overkilling should be apparent. Bodhi "More power to you my man....and I think you get triple points for redheads" |

LAST EDITED ON Nov-08-01 AT 00:37 AM (EST) >So my query is thus: Does Gryph intend to explain this at some point >or was it just in to give the narrative a little more dimension? I >expect Gryphon to be cryptic and somewhat unhelpful as is his right >and wont. I can't blame him. Don't forget that Corwin tells Skuld that Tiny Robo was made so that it... It was built so... Here let me go find the quote... *rumble* *dig* *double-click* Here we are: "This is excellent work," she noted, looking over Tiny Robo. "Let's see your power core, little guy, c'mon." With an obliging growl, Tiny Robo opened his plastron, revealing a startling maze of tiny pipes and conduits. "Steam pile! Very nice. Love the tubing. Seems a bit overpowered for a toy, though.""Future expansion," Corwin explained.
So, I imagine Gryphon was being quite cryptic about the future of these two. Static-Pulse Dorothy, Corwin's 2 gifts, Durandal, Lore, and now some Uberhypercomputer... SOS is a good series for us robo-fetishists. - the most impulsive post alive DarkBeast.com |

>(Obref: one assumes that Dorothy has downloaded some of this. I >wonder how that affects her thinking on the topic?) Dare I ask... Okay, I dare... Given the fact that Dorothy has visited alt.* groups (and presumably alt.sex.* groups) one has to wonder if alt.sex.fetish.robots has lasted until 2405. Such groups are for the pure fantastic in this world, but what about a world where the fantastic is real? (Or am I thinking of things I shouldn't?) "What are you typing, Dorothy?" Corwin asked. He could hear the android working on something at the keyboard, but his workbench faced an etirely opposite direction."I am replying to someone's post on a newsgroup," Dorothy answered in her normal tone. Corwin could heard her begin to type again. After what he assumed must have been several hundred keystrokes, Dorothy asked, "What would you say has been the longest time you've on something in your laboratory?" "Hrm," Corwin pondered. Several instances came to mind, but he could never pin down an amount of time. He shrugged and turned around, sliding off of his stool. "I don't know, I guess I've been here all night a few times. Why?" "Ndroidlvr asked if anyone had ever spent the night with an android before," Dorothy asked as she began typing again. "I was going to tell him that we spent the night together many times." "WAAAUUGH?!"

They've just become somewhat more pragmatic than was the original intent. In fact, one imagines there's a whole profusion of xenophile groups in the human-oriented section of Usenet's sex hierarchy. alt.sex.vulcans.every-seven-years, for instance, or alt.sex.klingons.rough, or alt.sex.bajorans.ooh-those-sexy-nose-ridges-just-make-me-melt. --G. -><- Benjamin D.
