Well, we also know that Kari is from Bgztl, actually. There was a mention that Grant is basically a living Jawa diety. Tori's main ability may simply be that he can keep blending into all the craziness at M5 without missing a beat. Oh, and he can weld. --------------------------- We will BUILD heroes! |

>What kind of changes (race, background, special >abilities, etc.) did Kari, Grant and Tory get when introduced to the >UF setting? As far as I can recall, we've technically only seen Kari on screen, and as BZA mentioned, she's from Bgtzl (we've seen her walk through a wall at least once). Grant is mentioned in a TV listing, and although I suspect Kari might have been exaggerating somewhat when she said he was the Jawas' living god, it is well-known that he spends at least one month of every year on Tatooine, where he vanishes into the desert and reappears 30 days later disheveled, sunburned, and deeply pleased with himself. We believe he has a Lawrence of Arabia sort of thing going on there. As far as anyone knows he's just a regular human, though I wouldn't put it past him to be rockin' the Will-Smith-in-I, Robot bionic-man thing. As for Tory, he hasn't appeared at all, but I have to admit that if I were plotting an appearance for him right now, I would be sorely tempted to continue the Legion of Super-Heroes riff Kari started and give him Ultra Boy's powers. So he can be invulnerable or super-strong or super-fast, but not more than one at the same time. Good for crashing bicycles, not so good for testing the slap-your-hands-together-on-the-sword-blade thing. :) --G. -><- Benjamin D. Oh, it was probably a little more oblique than that. "OK! Not only do space whales exist... " "... and not only can you attract them with particular subspace frequencies... " "... it turns out they're more than willing to eat survey pods." "Man, this is bad." "Yup." "I'll fight you to see who has to tell Jamie." --G. I think it works better if Grant speaks first, but YMMV. -><- Benjamin D. LAST EDITED ON May-26-11 AT 01:23 PM (EDT) >I second the vote for Amy and Kari getting screen time together... >it's perhaps the only thing better than the Amy and Amy scene in Space >& Time, the 2011 Comic Relief shorts. Yes, I'm pretty sure watching Mythbusters immediately after Space & Time was what made me realize I hold this terrible power in the first place. --G. "Oh, this is how it all ends. >You know, if we're going to throw the Mythbusters and the Doctor >together, we might as well also have the Top Gear crew involved. :) > >The first time I saw Top Gear, I thought, "They must NEVER team up >with the Mythbusters. Adam and Clarkson would add more power, Jamie >and Captain Slow would spend an hour discussing safety trivia (before >Adam and Jeremy totally disregarded it), the Build Team would rebuild >the Stig into an even MORE unstoppable driving machine. Oh, and >Hammond would be forced to drive whatever they came up with." :) Me, my friend Mike, and my Dad are all in agreement. If Top Gear and Mythbusters got together for something OTHER than Adam and Jamie as 'Stars in a Reasonably Priced Car', one would not be safe being in the same COUNTRY. Possibly continent or even hemisphere. The resulting episode would be a lot of fun to watch, however.

"And tonight on Top Gear, I do something silly in a hat..." [Shot of Clarkson in Jamie's flat cap hooning around in whichever mental carmaker managed to survive to this point in history] "James does something silly in a Volvo..." [Shot of May, Adam and a few other Mythbusters welding something big and ominous to the boot of a largish Volvo estate that spins up making a whining noise] "And Richard does something silly in his trousers." [Shot of Hammond screaming bleeped-out obscenities behind the wheel of what looks like a largish Volvo estate, face a mask of absolute terror]... Is this right? -- ed. --- "Yeah, I'm definitely going to hell/But I'll have all the best stories to tell" -- Frank Turner, The Ballad of Me and My Friends |
