"Rei influencing current fashion trends?"

I saw this news article and all I could think off was the quote below:

(DJ's) left was wrapped from the
wrist half way to the elbow. The dressing was showing some red in a
few places. "Very stylish. From the Ayanami spring collection,
aren't they?" he quipped.

Oddly not the first time I've heard of this trend; in fact, I think the first time I heard of it, Evangelion was relatively new and it was a Rei fandom thing. I think it was after I wrote that scene, though. Possibly it was even brought to my attention because of that scene. :)

Me, I have no bandages, but I do still have some outstanding arm bruises from the IV punctures, and I walk with a cane, which does get some attention.

Guh. IKWYM about the bruises.

I try to donate blood on a regular basis, but my veins are not easy to access, so every time I go in it's a bit of a circus getting the blood going. One time they tried both arms and were unable to draw any blood, leaving me with nasty bruises on the insides of both elbows for days afterward, and for the rest of that day I got to have both arms wrapped in that oh so fashionable day-glo gauze the local Red Cross chapter likes so much.

While most of the time I'm glad I'm much better insulated than my wife, so to speak, I do envy that she's got so much easier a time giving blood than me.

Indeed, the trend has actually been revitalized as a Rei fandom thing once again; the first Rebuild of Evangelion movie came out here in September, and since then I've seen several people sporting such wear outside of the more cosplay-oriented neighborhoods (including more than one at Sophia University.)
