"Hunted Rose - The Highlights"
|
LAST EDITED ON Nov-10-01 AT 03:40 AM (EST) Greetings! Wow, whatta ride! I honestly don't think you could ever make this into a movie and capture all the action and emotion that is packed into this story. Only the human imagination can do this story justice. And now (Because I got a lotta them.)... The HighlightsWakaba: "...You're not out of your mind any more, and I'm not the naive little Pollyanna I used to be, " - They have Pollyanna in Cephiro? Interesting. Battlecruiser Vengeance and Amanda's reaction - Is it that tough to get Battlecruiser Vengeance stuff? "All w-we have to d-do," she added with a wry grin, "is surv-v-vive Finals... " - Ah. Forshadowing. Janice this whole story - Yaaay! Go Janice! Kick Ass! <waves flags around> Miki: "Well, -shit-." - Miki's accurate appraisal of the situation. :) Dorothy: "YOU'RE the one, who tried to shoot the CAT." - Awesome line. Atomic Buster Cannon - KABOOM! Aya Nakajima: Klingon Spooker - Is she UF's version of Lina Inverse? Professor Kraalgh - I hope we see more of him in later stories. Corwin to the rescue - I'll be re-reading this sequence for a long time to come. Nall trying to talking to Peril - Heh. :) Gryphon: "You broke it, you bought it." - Sounds like you got the "father" thing down Gryph. :) Amanda's confrontation with her father - It looks like you almost summed up Yamato in that sequence. Or at least the end of it. Almost. Liza Broadbank - I'm of two minds about her. One part of me is glad she's getting a lot of flack tossed in her direction. The other part is wondering how much more can she take. It's not like she hasn't desererved (except for the attempted rape) what's happened to her. But what is it going to take to get it through her head that what she's been doing isn't going to work anymore? I look forward to the next part. Thanks for sharing with us Gryphon. >Wakaba: "...You're not out of your mind any more, and I'm not the >naive little Pollyanna I used to be, " - They have Pollyanna in >Cephiro? Interesting. Translation artifact. :) >Battlecruiser Vengeance and Amanda's reaction - Is it that tough to >get Battlecruiser Vengeance stuff? Battlecruiser Vengeance: The Animated Series is almost impossible to find. Unlike the regular series and the movies, it was never available on home video, so all the existing copies are either bootlegs of the broadcast masters or recorded off the air. Utena has it with Standard subtitles, which is rarer still. Klaang's got contacts. :) >Dorothy: "YOU'RE the one, who tried to shoot the CAT." - >Awesome line. Yeah... I was slightly uncomfortable about using it, because it's a more direct steal than I'm used to running these days, but it's just so perfect for the situation that, in the end, I just couldn't resist it. >Professor Kraalgh - I hope we see more of him in later stories. Everything's better with Klingons! >Amanda's confrontation with her father - It looks like you almost >summed up Yamato in that sequence. Or at least the end of it. >Almost. Huh. That's interesting. I don't think I've ever seen the end of Yamato. Hmm... and which end of Yamato? Counting all the "this is the last one, really, we mean it" movies, that series ended (with the destruction of the ship and everybody dying!) something like five times, didn't it? :) >But what is it going to take to get it through her head that what >she's been doing isn't going to work anymore? What indeed? Stay tuned... >Thanks for sharing with us Gryphon. You're welcome. :) --G. -><- Benjamin D. Even then, I'm not exactly sure if I remember it correctly. But I'm SURE one of the endings is almost like yours anyway. :) >>But what is it going to take to get it through her head that what >>she's been doing isn't going to work anymore? > >What indeed? The whole thing is one big highlight. Times when I'm as incredibly deeply involved in a story as I was while reading Hunted Rose last night are times I remember. One of the times I was as deep was during DJ's first live battle while controlling Jet Alone in NXE 3:8, I believe it was. Hunted Rose took that kind of intensity and made it last FOR THE WHOLE STORY. Whether it was unbridled hatred for the Psi Corps(es), worry for Kaitlyn, Utena, and co., adrenaline pumping at Corwin's rescue, or the face-splitting, shit-eating grin on my mug when that reflex cannon went off. My ability to speak isn't up to conveying just how cool it all was, nor how much I enjoyed it, nor how glad I am to have the privelege of reading it. Yea, I know that feeling. During the entire story I felt as if somebody hooked me up to a reflexfurance. At one point of Hunted Rose, I think it was when Mac was questioned, I was even shaking my monitor shouting "LET ME IN THERE!!! I WANT TO SMASH THAT PSI COP BASTARD'S SKULL!!!!!!" ^_^; ---------------- "And what _are_ we dealing with? Little green men!?" "No. Little green blobs in bonded polycarbite-armor!" |

In a lot of books, I can usually get so into it that I begin to feel the emotions that the characters are going through, which is why I tend to stay clear of really depressing stories as I tend to become a bit moody. Surprisingly, a few Mack Bolan books made me really upset about a few things, as well as the vigilante book called Midnight Lightning. I still can't believe it.... |
