"Reindeer Games"

Creating a discussion thread for the newly posted Christmas CSI mini, Reindeer Games, so that people don't have to keep scrolling to the bottom of the story thread itself for discussion. That's all!

"I guess she's supposed to be one of Santa's elves," Calleigh mused.

Slipping on a pair of dataglasses, Horatio looked up and let the glasses' rangefinder function tell him the distance from the body's location to each of the five balconies ringing the atrium. Then, removing the glasses, he looked down at Melinda Barnett's body again.

"Someone," he observed, "decked more than the halls."

This could be one of the best running gags ever, if only because it's purposefully tongue in cheek.

Hey, at least here the glasses are useful. This mini-ep really felt like an ep of CSI. Fun read.

Neat twists at the end!

I'm not a watcher of CSI: Miami, so I didn't really know the character personalities as much, but the way they played off of each other was nice.

...but a Vulcan named Eric? Huh.

Except that the Vulcan in question is actually named Ryan - while Erik Delko was the one doing the pondering, he was pondering about the new guy, Ryan Wolfe...

Anyway, a fun little story - definitely captured the style of CSI: Miami, and it was a great opening sequence at the cut-to-credits part :)

Well, Ryan, actually, but the idea is the important thing.

Chances are it's not really his name, but a handle he's adopted to "fit in" a little better with the squares. Charismatics are weird that way.

If I was going to do a little armchair psychology, I'd notice that "Orion" and "wolf" both suggest "hunter". Which is fitting, in a way, for an investigatior.

Or it could just be something he pulled out of a book. :)

I argued, when we were discussing this, that 'Wolfe' wasn't really any stranger a name than 'Spock' when you got right down to it. Where he got Ryan from, though, is anyone's guess.
