"Fulcrum update"

LAST EDITED ON Mar-07-07 AT 10:01 PM (EST)

No, it's not dead.

However, it is a fairly well-established fact that much of my mojo - especially when dealing with Jedi matters, for whatever reason - is reverberative, and my usual sounding boards for such things have lately been out of action for a variety of very good reasons.

I'm sorry for the delay; I knew some of these factors were coming up, and I was hoping to get Fulcrum finished before they hit, but I was distracted by a shiny object, and now, in all likelihood, it'll have to wait until I get one or more of 'em back. Maybe after college basketball is over...

Anyway, I just figured I ought to mention it, since it's been a while now and I'm sure some of you out there are wondering. In the meantime, I've got mini-stories and Rogue Squadron #5 to work on. (Oh, and Iron Age, though there again, there's that whole "communicating with Zoner" thing to be done there.)

Thanks for your patience. (Cripes, I feel like Fred Gallagher saying that. :)

Long years of waiting for authors have conditioned me to patience. The story gets done when it gets done.

Thanks for the update!

And might I add, it's a pleasure to be seeing you in such a good mood on the forums.

-Jason

Well, I like Fred, so that's a plus in my book. And I buy his stuff, too, so *legality issues notwithstanding* I'd gladly offer the same gesture.

Can be happy while patient,

Heh. Oh, I have nothing against Fred. He just often gives the impression of being strangely fearful of fan wrath. "Sorry this is 14 nanoseconds late! Please don't kill anyone."

I dunno, I mean, maybe his update style just exaggerates the appearance, but if you guys were as tetchy about that kind of thing as his fans apparently are, it'd be like the freakin' Paris riots of 2005 around here all the time. :)

Fred's a fantastic artist, but he's severely scrambled when it comes to interpersonal relations; he worries about his fans perceptions to the point of neurosis but is absolutely ruthless when it comes to business.

And he DOES do MT for a living, so his biggest fear is to alienate his fan base and have to go back to being an architect because people stop buying his shit.

Heh. Whereas I routinely sit over here thinking, I wish I was an architect. That would be so boss.

It's a funny old world. :)

Because of a past association through my ex-wife, I happen to know that he became an architect because his folks wanted him to, and if nothing else, it gives him the mad skills for the incredible backgrounds and settings he creates. His mom, in particular, was very disappointed when he left to become an artist full time.

You'd make a terrible architect, btw, you listen to people and respect their opinions, even if you disagree. Everyone knows that architects are convinced that they walk on water and that little things like 'reality' routinely disturb their well-designed plans. Like the reality of not being able to run a 3 1/2 inch electrical conduit directly through a 12-inch steel I-beam. I deal with architects all the time, so I know.

Heh. You sound like my father. (He's a mechanical engineer by trade, and has worked in industrial project management most of his career.) We were watching TV on his lunch hour the other day, and something came up regarding the Guggenheim Bilbao. He snorted and said, "You can tell an architect designed that goddamn thing."

I agree with your father...and the Guggenheim Bilbao might well make Juri reconsider her opinion of the Centre Georges Pompidou, if only she could see it.

I'll say this for the Bilbao, though: It at least doesn't look like the work crews who built it just stopped showing up one day.

Even from someone who reads/enjoys MT, I have to say any updates around here are generally more worth the wait.

After all, I've yet to bust out laughing until tears came for anything that happens in aforementioned webcomic. Or bust out laughing at something that may or may not have been inentionally written as funny, for that matter.

Use the Force, Ben! Let go your feelings...

<snicker> I'm sorry - that paragraph was begging for it.

A very important point. Ater all he did collapse 12 governments with a poorly worded UseNet post.

You need more emo. It's impossible to channel Piro without the emo.

Anyway, you're not doing that badly - you get a good 2-for-1 from Geoff (again, dude, it rocked) and the Rogue Squadron stuff was good enough to pull me away from the project I'm working on. Most impressive, esp. as my astrologist tells me this is the month - the very week! - I will see the culmination of said project. I never travel without my astrologist.

Anyway, Eyrie now (-urg-) 16 years old is still a lot of fun. Unless you feel an overwhelming need be prolific, you shouldn't worry about the fans dude. We understand. There's nothing wrong about cruising in neutral occasionally. It lets you drink the coffee, fiddle with the radio, and quite la mascara. If you're into that sorta stuff.
