"Spoilerish Hunted Rose Question"
|
While leaving the house this morning, a question came to me: Why was the Psi Corps torturing Amanda? She couldn't have had any information worth having, so why the probing? Are they searching for something in particular? Is she being made into a plant? Or is it something else? Thanks Luc "Disembodied Minds Want to Know" French |

>>Why was the Psi Corps torturing Amanda? She couldn't have had any >>information worth having, so why the probing? > >How was the Corps to know that she didn't have any useful information? You don't just go in and search something without *some* idea of what you're looking for. Are they looking for something in particular, or are the Psi Cops really unprofessional, or is it something else? (Neither possibility would surprise me.) Thanks Luc "Minor Major" French |

LAST EDITED ON Nov-15-01 AT 12:11 PM (EST) >>>>Why was the Psi Corps torturing Amanda? She couldn't have had any >>>>information worth having, so why the probing? >>> >>>How was the Corps to know that she didn't have any useful information? >> >>You don't just go in and search something without *some* idea of what >>you're looking for. > >I should think it was obvious what they were looking for: information >about other friends and contacts Devlin might have had. She might >have known something about his ties to the Underground without knowing >she knew. As his, er, closest acquaintance, she was a potential >resource which couldn't be ignored. There's an even darker subtext available, even if they were just looking. Amanda is 1. The Crown Princess of a foreign Empire. 2. A pilot in same Empire. This, combined with what the Psi Cop said to Mac, and their treatment of Liza, should be setting off red alerts in law enforcement circles. When you are in service primarily to the Law, even if the law is unjust, that is one thing; acting as political tools (as they did with Mac), and doing things far outside both the letter and spirit of the law for your own institutional gain (as they did with Liza) marks the difference between police and terror squads. I very seriously doubt the Psi Corps will be enjoying the help of IPO or any other non-EA law enforcement agency anytime soon. Thanks Luc "Political" French |

>I very seriously doubt the Psi Corps will be enjoying the help of IPO >or any other non-EA law enforcement agency anytime soon. Actually, I wouldn't be too surprised to see the IPO sticking their nose in volunteering their help to a Psi Corps operation to "assist with the enforcement of all applicable laws and ensure the safety of the officers involved" or some such excuse... -Z --- We are Dyslexic of Borg. Psi-Corps grunts bashing at the door while Utena slips into uniform and zaps off a quick e-mail to Gryph. "Alright, that's ENOUGH! As a Captain in the IPO, I'm taking charge of this investigation immediately!" (Fifty cents says Gryph will immediately reply with five different reasons why this wouldn't have worked. And someone else will come up with five different ways for Utena to work around them.) >-Z > >--- >We are Dyslexic of Borg. The arrest team, faced with this, would have... 1) Cracked up laughing 2) Gone ahead with the arrest anyway (cue scene we did see in Hunted Rose) >-- >"Eat hot blazing photonic pulse fire, you alien invading >human-abducting saucer-alien bastards!" -- Captain of EAS Bellerophon, >firing on a Vree cruiser. I know it's past the time for any .sig commentary, but I'm at work, it's my lunch hour, and I'm bored. Would the captain of Bellerophon been a JJ Condorcet, by any chance? SliderDF (NYAR!) |

Hmm, that reminds me of something that popped in my mind today about Undocumented Features in general. I've noticed a lot of references to mecha, armored bodysuits and the like, but I've haven't seen hardly any references to Exo-Squad (save Wolf Bronski in one story). I'm not much of a techno-nut or anything, but that cartoon had some interesting looking exo-suits. Just curious if ye heard about it.... |

>I saw a couple episodes of it, way back when. Didn't like it. Understandible. When it came out I thought it was a bit darker than the traditional cartoon and it had a nasty racial undertone to it all. Or it could of been my imagination..... |

When it came out I thought it was a bit darker than >the traditional cartoon and it had a nasty racial undertone to it all. I think it was a bit more mature than some of the other cartoons at the time. I'd quite like to see it again if anyone knows where I could find a copy. There were quite a few parallels to Robotech now that I think about it - of course, at the time I'd never heard of Robotech. drakensisthered
SHE'S the 'Pirate Killer,' 'Klingon Spooker,' 'Big Trouble in a Little Package,' 'She Who Must be Avoided,' and 'Go Around the Other Side of the Nebula.' I'm the dumb blonde comic relief. |

I'm the dumb blonde comic relief. The irony of that statement is that after Exo-Squad had been around for awhile, Playmates decided to bring back Robotech toys by tying them into Exo-Squad. Don't ask how, I think it had something to do with the fold drive (surprise, surprise). There was a Veritech fighter, a Battle Pod, and Invid Shock Trooper, and all the destroids, but they were smaller; I remember the Veritech being pretty big. They never showed in the cartoon, which is probably a very, very good thing. I actually liked Exo-Squad, the only problem was that the show got moved to a 7:00AM time slot on weekdays, so I could never catch a full episode. Zack Cohen |
