[5] This piece was, among other things, an experiment in leaving the camera on longer than usual. I think it was the first time I'd attempted that, and I did it for several reasons. Shocking people was not among them, though it did have that effect on some (in part because of the age of the participants, but hey, it's not like there was much I could do about that - and anyone who doesn't think real 14-year-olds are getting it on is kidding himself). I'm not generally comfortable doing that kind of scene, but in this case, I did so mainly because the sequence didn't work any other way. This episode has a lot more going on than just the sex scene, of course, and I think a lot of people missed that in their initial reactions. It's got the title it does because there are a lot of things changing in the course of these events. Relationships are solidifying; alliances are shifting; battle lines are beginning to be drawn. Apart from that, I don't have a lot to say about it; it's among the most self-explanatory of the NXE episodes. [415] The use of this song in situations like this reaches clear back to the original UF. It seemed only appropriate for it to be reprised here. [739] John used to have a phone number that was one digit off from that of a party supply store. It was... irritating. |
