"A Few Quick "Hunted Rose" Questions/Observations"

Upon my third re-read this week, I noticed a couple things I thought I'd ask about.

"Point Swampy"? Is there a Monty Python fan assigning code names in the CFMF?

"Ambassador Fenwick" of the CFMF wouldn't happen to be *Gloriana* Fenwick, would she?

>Oddest of all, he
appeared to have a white rabbit sitting on his shoulder.

You know, not knowing Jer at all, for a moment I was afraid this was Mokona from MKR... thank god it wasn't...

Finally, will we get to see Juri and Ivanova in a scowl-off? <grin>

Yes. Admiral Theresa Curtiss has encountered three different dimensions at -least- in her life, and she loves Python in all of them. (So, incidentally, does Aya, although she prefers the Three Stooges.)

Who?

No, that's Ambassador Irving Fenwick, former Professor of Forensics of Freespacer State University.

Nope, just a rabbit.

If Jer possessed a Cephirean artifact, that would have interesting implications in the long term. :)

Ivanova's spare time is largely occupied by scowling at Major Kira and Dr. Bashir at this point, but we'll see. :)

Will we get to see Mr. Garibaldi as Kira's exec? I can take or leave Dr. Franklin (even though I've met the man who played him), but I gotta see Garibaldi.

Quick Q of mine own: Do Sheridan or Sinclair end up running B5, or is that just not in the cards.

>>Ivanova's spare time is largely occupied by scowling at Major Kira and
>>Dr. Bashir at this point, but we'll see. :)

Ivonova scowls at everybody.

>Will we get to see Mr. Garibaldi as Kira's exec? I can take or leave
>Dr. Franklin (even though I've met the man who played him), but I

I've never really watched DS9, but I remember Bashir as being the perky, optimistic sort... Now I'm picturing him working with Franklin just as the latter is getting into the stims-to-keep-going-and-god-help-you-if-you-catch-me-during-withdrawl phase. I like Franklin, really! ^_^

blessed be.

By the time Jer's done with her, her personality will be put through the wringer. It'll be amusing.

I'm just worried about what will happen when the rabbits start breeding on B5. (Mental flashback to the Tribble episode, only with rabbits instead of liitle whatevers) Could be fun, especially when people start freaking out.

He's a better choice than McCoy, Crusher, Franklin, What's-her-name-that-only-had-one-season-on-TNG, an original character or Hawkeye?

Len McCoy and Bev Crusher already have jobs. You're damned right Bashir's a better choice than Franklin; aside from his drug problem, the man has the bedside manner of a videocassette recorder, except without quite as much warmth. Ditto for Pulaski, plus she has even more of a problem with authority than Franklin, which would ever so endear her to Commander Ivanova. Hawkeye Pierce has been dead for centuries, though his memoirs are a source of inspiration to combat doctors to this day. As for original characters, there are some in the B5 medical staff (Brolin Keelen, for example), but for the department head, I wanted to be making a reference.

Not to mention that Pulaski (by TNG comparison against the UF backdrop) is undoubtedly a member of the Church of Man. Love to see her head explode when she met Dorothy, Lore, and Durandal... Heh. Not to mention what her thoughts on cybernetics would be.

mmm... I wouldn't go that far. Yes, she had issues with Data, but then, real AIs and sentient mechanoids aren't a fact of life in the TNG universe. How do you think the average person would feel if, instead of saying "The door is open" like a normal Buik Regal, your car gave you a dissertation on why it's a bad idea to leave it open, and then another one on why you shouldn't leave your jaw hanging that way, and by the way, don't forget your keys, because it's not going to unlock the door for you.
Once she got used to the idea of non-biological sentience, she treated him just like everyone else... She even testified for him at the trial, IIRC.

I never really like Pulaski or Franklin anyway, I was just curious as to why they weren't cast...

In that vein, how about Sam Beckett (he has an MD along with his string of PhDs)? or the doctor from Battlestar Galactica whose name I can't remember? or Pau Zhan? (On that note, Aeryn Sun would make an interesting Deputy Chief of Security or Flight Leader for the self defense fighters)

-Z, who knows he isn't going to get a cast change, but is fishing for vague clues in the form of "you'll see X later" anyway...

He's always struck me as more of an engineer and a theoretician than an MD. He probably picked up an MD just because he was in the neighborhood and figured it might be useful.

I don't see P'au Zotoh Zhaan taking a position as a station's doctor. She'd be more appropriate as, say, a chaplain; she was a P'au first, and a healer second. She was not a doctor as we'd use the term.

Maybe, but at this point she's got too much of an independent streak. More likely she's in the CFMF.

I can't say about the rest of your list, but 1) Sam Beckett would be dead at this point in the UF timeline, and 2) DocMui is taking up the title that Doctor Beckett would have had of First Quantum Leaper.

Considering that Al is the AI on Truss's ship, I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility to have a multi-talented genius like Beckett bopping around the cosmos (though my guess would be that he'd either be working for R-Type or the WDF in R&D of some sort)...

It should be noted that a certain character from Quagmire Project, Bifran Piers, shares very few characteristics with the human Benjamin Franklin Pierce M. D. except a vague similarity of names- for which he is called 'Hawkeye' by the human members of the CFMF. He's currently about 500 years old or more and has retired from the CFMF Palendrom to a quiet and honorable country practice on Salusia's north polar continent, Kumbar. He has no interest in further space service.

Cephirean artifact? Mokona isn't a Cephirean artifact--Cephiro is
a Mokonean artifact. :)

Provided, of course, one really accepts Mokona as Creator of the Universe, which is a Very Scary Thought(TM).

I always get the feeling that the manga was axed before CLAMP could come up with a suitable ending, so they simply threw together whatever came to mind and tacked it on for the end.
