Yeah, that's nice. Sometimes she's shown with that sorta-caduceus-like motif going all the way down the front of her shirt, although, as in this figure, it's more commonly depicted as at least partially the style of the textiles rather than part of her jewelry.

Oh, those aren't blood puppet strings, it's a takeoff on the Red Thread of Fate. Artists use it as a metaphor for her (vaguely-defined) "power to manipulate fate" sometimes. The red color is just coincidental. Although I would accept that the idea of her messing around with fate on purpose is arguably just as ominous.

The nails, well, I've seen worse. Artistic license. :)

Perhaps Remilia's little sergeant-at-arms mistook the actual construction of an aiguillette? I could see her making it herself and being so taken by the result that no one had the heart to disillusion her.

That or, well, it doesn't seem like the denizens of at least this Scarlet Mansion have anything particularly against whimsical interpretation.

I know this was comic exaggeration, but this sparked the mental image of Remilia wearing said ring as if it were a pro wrestling championship belt (given the designs of most class rings I've ever seen, they wouldn't look that far off that mark scaled up.) Might be a weird headspace sort of Monday.

It does look really similar, though I'd note that it is also the sort of expression one expects to see on Remilia a significant percentage of the time (going by fanart, you'd think it was her default resting expression) so it's probably a flip of the coin whether it was inspired by the doll or coincidence.

It's the eyes, mostly, that convince me the resemblance is deliberate. The "jitome top line and white circular pupil in the upper lefthand corner, with short horizontal lines above the inner top corners and the actual eyebrows higher up on the forehead" configuration is exactly the same as the toy.

Although, upon closer inspection, the doll in the picture has a moe fang; the actual doll does not, but the Flandre doll that matches with it (which I haven't bought one of, because they're about twice as expensive and the Remi one already cost more than any rational person would have paid) does. I suspect the artist has, or at least has seen, both of them, and based the one pictured mostly on the real Remi one, but added Flan's fang (and a bear costume, for some reason).

I think about these things. I don't always want to. But I think about these things. :)

That is a different take on the wing crystals than seems to be standard, making them mostly transparent. It gives me (or since it's come up before, it might be more apt to say it reminds me of) the notion of her having, or developing, more control over their appearance (colors, opacity, glow/brightness, etc.)

Indeed, over the next little while, it grew into an entire little series of not-safe-for-work. That artist has done, uh... a lot of not-safe-for-work featuring Remilia and that blond guy, and... well, to be fair it's kind of amazing if you're into that sort of thing, because (as I noted in a DB comment on the last comic in the series) it's so clearly unlike the run-of-the-mill lewds that are so common on danbooru. It's so rare to find smut that's in character, and not either rapey bullshit or just characters doing things they'd never do, just for the sake of being shown doing them. Somehow or other, despite the complete lack of dialogue, Asutora's Remi-and-rando manage to give off the vibe of being a couple with an actual relationship... who happen to do a lot of epic shagging along the way.

The last couple of days I've been re-reading the Cyberpunk 2020 and Shadowrun rulebooks to see if it'll scratch that cyberpunk itch, so this crosses the wires and gives me the image of Flan demonstrating for some HMHVV-infected terror-of-the-night-wannabe mook what a real vampire rolls like. :)

Unlike Japanese, which it still does an absolutely monstrous job on if what it's asked to translate is more than three or four words long at the most, Google Translate isn't so bad at German these days--although something with this many words in it creates an absolutely hilarious URL, which you will see if you attempt to reply-with-quote to this post. :)

Heh, in UF the black one will eventually be her wedding dress. Now that you've said that, I'm thinking the red one might be Flan's (as it were). Except maybe with the purple bits changed to yellow in keeping with her usual color scheme.

There is a sad Gryphon that the preorders are closed, though. I look forward(?) to seeing them for three times that much on eBay and Amazon in six months. :/
