That might be the first time I've seen Remilia drawn in an outfit with green on it. I guess it's just not a color the mind associated with vampires, even cute ones.

And I'm pretty sure burning witches is frowned upon in Gallia these days.

So how anomalous are the 501st in that regard?

Considering that without Gryphon's teachings, the three oldest of them would quite likely be retired with power burnout at this point, I'd guess that they aren't anomalous at all.

Yeah, the 501st seem to be outliers even in canon. I haven't seen the third series, but even by the time of the movie, Minna and Trude ought to be at the end of their careers. (They've also never lost anyone KIA or too badly wounded to return to action, although in at least two cases I can think of offhand, that's literally only because they have Yoshika.)

Mind you, the JFWs are supposed to be elite special detachments, so you would expect them to have lower turnover than regular line units, but since we never actually SEE ordinary outfits in the source material, that's only speculation.
