"I'm sorry"

It's true. Unfortunately It isn't because i was wrong. Normally when reading I finish the book i start however dull parts may be or how odd events seem because it may be important in the events of a later book (IE:Starwars novels)or because it captures me in someway.

Sadly NXE did not capture my attention in the way i would have liked. I was rather outraged at certain things during the first act. Which admittedly i have not read past nor baring a Miracle do i intend to. In the first act not only do you bring in a character that out does everyone but he never gets his fair share of the abuse. DJ Croft is bloody golden-age Superman compared to the other characters and that's just wrong.

Aside from DJ's antics several of the event prompts established in the series for Asuka are gone and while that in and of itself isn't bad she does come off as stupid which she isn't of course. In addition Asuka's best victories are glossed over or wiped away.

There is one point where you imply Kaji is a pedo. After reading that i had to put it down for ten minutes and take a walk. More than this is how DJ bests him at every turn, Kaji is about twice his age so it seems unreasonable that he would keep getting bested by a child. Since i haven't read beyond act one i don't know what you did to change Kaji and Misato's relationship but once again it appears that you've bashed him making it his fault instead of hers as it was in the series.

i have no complaints about Gendo as it seems he (oddly enough) is with a deviation in his character as it was written originally

Finally i think what bothered me most wasn't the younger Ikari's absence but the fact that the new guy ran his gauntlet always doing better than Shinji did. DJ Croft is an original character and i would have like to have seen him doing something Original rather than running the course laid out In an odd attempt to make fun of Eva's Original hero.

In short. While there are many places and worlds in and on which i would be happy to see MR. Croft the Evangelion Universe is not one where he fits.

>everyone but he never gets his fair share of the abuse.

Now, see, you've got no basis for saying that. You can't say "never" if you haven't seen the whole timeline, can you? No, I'm afraid you can't.

>Since
>i haven't read beyond act one i don't know what you did to change Kaji

Taken out of its original context, this statement is not only still true, but a perfect exemplar of what's wrong with your efforts here. You don't know what the deal is there because you didn't stay for the payoff.

And, hey. You've said you're not going to, and that's fine. I'm not going to beg anybody to read anything of mine if they don't want to. Our motto here is "We thought it would be fun," not "Pathetic fools, there's no escape."

I do, however, reserve the right to tell you to get off my dick about it, since you're the functional equivalent of somebody who only stayed for the first 20 minutes of Star Wars and left assuming Luke would never get off Tatooine.

So get off my dick about it, already.

Amusingly enough, almost all your complaints? Answered in the second series.

Also, Asukas best victories? Sixth Angel? Here. The Power of Dance Compels You? Sure, Asuka didn't win here, but it's done better here. Volcano Angel? Don't fuck with Asuka, she'll kick your ass. And then she gets some real kickass victories later on.

Is Kaji a pedo? No, he's not. Why does it imply he is? Well, that's shown later on.

Is DJ hard to put up with originally? Hell yes. Is he as brilliant as he jokes about being? Heck no. Does fate kick him for it? *Grin* But hey, he was created as the anti-Shinji, someone who was so fucked up in the original series he masturbated over a comatose girl (Which, until Shinjis appearances in NXE, rendered me literally incapable of liking him in ANY way again.) It makes sense that someone used to being in tight situations would handle it better then him. Heck, a rabid monkey could handle it better then the Spineless One did in NGE.

Basically, I think it's been noted that the first arc of NXE is responsible for driving off more fans then anything else, which is a shame, given how the following story arcs improve it so much.
