"Techno-mages"

Do the Techno-mages exist within the UFverse? If so, I can easily image the reply being, "Yes, but not like you think." Therefore, allow me to make an addendum: Does Skuld have anything to do with them? *bows* Thank you. :)

They're from Babylon 5. Basically, a Techno-Mage is someone who uses technology to achieve effects most beings would describe as magic. "A sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" and all that.

In my opinion, they're a cross between Green Lantern and Merlin. A "race" of beings who are probably (circa, season 2) third only to the Vorlons and Shadows in the B5 universe. *scours web* Here are a couple of links:

Galen, a Techno-mage who was initiated just before the murder of President Clark (?) was a main character in Excalibur. Otherwise, we only saw them in the episode Geometry of Shadows. Also, there is a new trilogy out all about them, I've just begun reading it.

Thanks. :) I honestly doubted they would be for several reasons, one specifically being the fact that the Lensmen implant is kind of similar to the Tech that the Techno-mages use. Curiousity just demanded I ask.

The Lens isn't an implant, but aside from that you're pretty much there.

Well, it kind of is for Marty, but then Marty is...special. :) The description of that particular Lens is the one that sticks in everyone's mind. Or at least for me, anyway.

Given the nature of Mr. Rose, it would be more accurately called an "attachment", or perhaps an "upgrade module". :)

That reminds me. I know the Lens is from the Gray Lensman books, but it also seems to be very similiar to the gauntlets on Rayearth (with a less feminine design). In Hammer's case, I envision the Ovums in the Rayearth OVAs.

Am I on the right track appearance-wise, or not really?

The Lens itself is just a gem, so it can't really have a 'masculine' or 'feminine' design. What it's attached to varies from Lensman to Lensman; many of them are just worn on silver bands as though they were wristwatches. The gems themselves do rather resemble the ones on the Magic Knights' gauntlets, though, now that you mention it - although they tend to be a bit smaller. (Size varies a bit.)
