It's because of the doofy new "uneditable sig" function. The old way (the one I still use) puts your sig in the actual text of your message, so it's still there when people reply, and has to be (and sometimes isn't) cut out by the replying poster. The new version includes it automagically (if you don't change that preference setting), which means it's including it in messages that already have it.

BTW, this is about the conferences, not the website. A website query would be something like, "Dude, where did the UF Exile page go? Did you have a disk crash or something?"
