"Fun and frolic at the editing table"

Putting the musical cues into the Art of Noise concert scenes where I've quoted the lyrics in the text is kind of a hassle, but at the same time, it can be very amusing. Just now I've done the concert scene from Springtime, which included a complete quote of a version of the Goldfinger cover of "99 Red Balloons" that was never actually released (Truss assembled it for me out of two released versions).

Something didn't seem quite right about the scene in its finished form, and I after musing on it for a while I realized what it was: I can usually overlook the fact that I've got Kate singing something that was actually sung by a man in the original, because, you know, it's rock 'n roll, what does it matter? But the intro and outro to "99 Red Balloons" really don't work that way.

So I fixed it! Solving problems: it's what we do here at Eyrie Sound.

And now I've had to suspend recording for the moment, because there's a line of thunderstorms passing through the Podunk Valley, and besides the risk of lost data if the power flickers, thunder isn't really compatible with voice recording.

Too true there, but the thunder would be perfect for Dorothy's first fight with RD if you didn't run the risk of frying equipment.

"You're quite noncommittal, the Welsh, aren't you?"

(silence)

"You see?"

I'm not sure the universe is ready for the revelation that every planet has a Somerset, though. As cultural universalities go, the Wurzels are perhaps an even greater shock than Swedish meatballs.

   "What ARE you drinking?"

"Vulcan Scrumpy."

"...this raises a lot of questions. Such as whether they created that before or after they embraced the Way of Surak, where they grow apples on that inferno of a planet, and where, exactly, you managed to get it."

"In order: It's traditional and pre-dates it, they make it from a kind of fruit that grows in caves- it's really quite fascinating the way the leaves are on the surface above and the fruits hang into the cave- which is why it is nearly colourless, and I had a friend bring it through labelled as specialist Lab cleansing fluid."

"It has overtones of that from the smell."

"Brewing of this necessitated the Vulcan discovery of Glass."

"It's difficult keeping up with the cross-continuity, but I think Cosmouse just gave The Saturnian Scraphunter his Ultimate Pacifier to use against Galactapuss..."
