"tease 2: Quarantena"
 
   
        They went aft to the chamber below the Wonder's service lift,
where the spacesuit lockers were, and started climbing into their
pressure suits.  As they did, Tali leaned against the bulkhead by the
door and observed the procedure, noting with satisfaction that Corwin
had already taught his student the importance of checking each other's
seals when prepping for EVA.
        "I understand you don't have a whole lot of space time yet," she
said to Utena as the latter checked Corwin's neck seal and gave him a
thumbs-up.  "Are you going to be OK with staying suited up for the next
12 to 15 hours?"
        Utena took her helmet down from its shelf inside her locker,
examined the inner padding and the seal ring, then looked up at Tali and
grinned.  "First time I wore this suit I slept overnight in it.  On the
Moon."
        Tali nodded.  "Nice," she said appreciatively.  Then she glanced
at Corwin and added impishly, "Corwin, you dog."
        "Ahem," Corwin replied, making certain Utena's helmet was
properly seated (it was).  "We must be getting close to the Hekademos
control zone," he went on, ignoring the bait altogether, and led the way
back to the cockpit as the two girls made eye contact (more or less) and
giggled behind him.

   Well, glad to see that I made a correct assumption as to content from the title. Maybe its cause its oh-dark thirty even out here on the west coast, but I'm still not getting why Tali's teasing Corwin. I always saw what he did that night as one of the definint moments of his makeup, not just in how he felt about Utena, but in how G showed that Corwin could and would move heaven and earth to help those around him.

I always thought of it as a perfect example of his selfless growing love for Utena. Something beautiful, to be cherised and not teased over.

then again, from having been a long time teaseee (cause i screamed SOOO wonderfully) maybe.

It is an example of his selfless growing love for Utena, and something beautiful to be cherished between them.

But look at it from the quarian perspective, especially from somebody who knows the players, but doesn't know the specifics of all their little interactions (for even with their copious emails, Corwin isn't going to detail everything...) or the reasons behind them.

A guy and a girl, in full environment suits, totally isolated from anybody else, for over 12 hours? That's the quarian equivelent of a really hot date.

So of course Tali's going to tease Corwin about it. Even if she knows that "nothing happened". ;)

Phil has this pretty well surrounded. Tali's teasing Corwin precisely because she knows, or at least has a fairly good idea, what happened that day. In the aftermath of a school dance, a guy takes a girl he's crazy about to a dark, secluded place where they can be all alone for hours... in separate pressure suits? Only Corwin.

The fact that that's a red-hot date by quarian standards anyway is just icing as far as she's concerned. :)

In the Vorkosiverse, yes there are. But they're not really suits per se.

Bod-pods. Basically an emergency tent to survive hard vacuum for a while. Easy to enter, even easier to seal, and can take two or three people. Four at a pinch, I believe.

Best description of their use is in Diplomatic Immunity; but in a context more suited to this story, I think.

"It's difficult keeping up with the cross-continuity, but I think Cosmouse just gave The Saturnian Scraphunter his Ultimate Pacifier to use against Galactapuss..."

   This is our first showing of little Tali.

I am not disappointed.

I do, however, have a feeling that Utena would attempt to put her on some kind of keychain and cuddle her forever and ever. Or maybe that's just my brain farting all over the place again, and we all know how well that turns out...
