Well, as you point out, he wasn't thinking very straight at the time. He may have "regained the ability to function on a basic level" when he left New Avalon, but he was looking for solitude, that "Exile frame of mind" as it's been referred to elsewhere. (Interesting, that he often looks for comfort by looking back to the darkest time of his life, but there it is.) Perhaps when he realized that he should have taken Wolfgang with him, that became the moment when his thoughts began to once again turn outward, and back to all the other things that still mattered to him? --- Rob Madson, a.k.a. That sounds plausable to me. After all, at one's lowest point, there's nowhere to go but up, and if you can simulate the experience WITHOUT being shot at by every bounty hunter in the quadrant, well hey, you've already got one up on the original experience.

>(Interesting, that he >often looks for comfort by looking back to the darkest time of his >life, but there it is.) It's not so much comfort as... I'm not sure, reinforcement, maybe. "Comfort" implies feeling better. At moments like that he reaches for memories of the Exile to remind himself that he's had worse and outlasted it. It doesn't make him feel better, but it stiffens his resolve. As to the rest, it's a solid theory - the kind of retroactive explanation Marvel Comics used to give No-Prizes for back in the day. We'll just assume it should have appeared in a corner-of-panel narration box at some point but was omitted due to a printer's error. :) --G. and he's watching us all with the eyyyyyyyyye... of the tiger -><- Benjamin D. I just assumed that when he was reaching for that exile feeling he was remembering being completely alone with nobody else around him to possibly get hurt, and either left Wolfgang behind to "protect" him, or possibly even just plain forgot about taking him. In any case, while it did seem a little strange, it wasn't too bad. And by leaving Wolfgang with the people he trusted to care for him, Gryphon ensured that Wolfgang would be around for when he came back. I don't consider it an error so much as an odd, improbable choice. But not impossible, as it were...
