Sorry, this has probably been discussed ad infinitum elsewhere but I had to ask: 1. Have the Authors incharge of the Master Chief/Cortana's development played Halo 2 on the Xbox 2. Are any of the authors waiting for the PC version? 3. And do the delays around the release of Vista mean we won't see bits of their adventures? cheers, t. who is irked Halo3 will be on xbox before she can get to halo2 on pc... I'm a raving Bungie fangirl, regardless of platform, OS, or what the monkeys in Redmond are doing. There will be more of John and Cortana. No one in EPU is being held hostage to the ongoing Halo canon. It's OK, really. ;) Ard Sumhenner that Janice chick Usual Suspect and general menace |

>1. Have the Authors incharge of the Master Chief/Cortana's development >played Halo 2 on the Xbox I have for about 10 minutes, which is about as long as I can stand to play any FPS with a console controller. I think Ard and Wedge have it, but I could be wrong. I know Ard played the webtoy game that preceded Halo 2's release. >2. Are any of the authors waiting for the PC version? Well, not in the sense that I'm sitting around deliberately not doing anything with the characters until I can play it. I'm not good enough at that kind of game to meet Bungie's exacting standards for worthiness to see their content anyway, so it's really kind of immaterial. If there's anything in the story of Halo 2 that's really germane to the UF versions of the Master Chief and Cortana - and given how far their story has wandered from the canonical one at this point, I'm not really seeing that as an issue - I'll most likely pick it up through spoiler sites or by asking around the studio anyway. >3. And do the delays around the release of Vista mean we won't see >bits of their adventures? I doubt the release or nonrelease of Windows Vista will have any bearing whatsoever on any creative work I'm likely to do. --G. -><- Benjamin D. LAST EDITED ON Nov-18-06 AT 00:54 AM (EST) >>1. I think Ard and Wedge have >it, but I could be wrong. Yeah, I do, and I've evn finished it. On easy. I tried a bit on Legendary once just for kicks and got my ass handed to me. Mainly now I just turn it on from time to time to spack 14-year-olds on Live. :) I'll be set up with a 360 when 3 releases. And when Halo Wars releases, too. :) >I know Ard played the webtoy game that >preceded Halo 2's release. Slarti also loves bees. >>2. It's also worth noting that several of us are screaming Eric Nylund fans, and as such the newest Halo novel has just released, Ghosts of Onyx. I may not get to it until the flight home at Christmas at the rate this year is going, but. :)

Well, unlike Halo, there's really no reason that I can determine to play through on Legendary except to collect the various skulls (The bulk of which make the game even HARDER), so that's alright, but I recently got and finished Halo 2 on all difficulties. Legendary cheats like a sumbitch. I'm fine with there being more enemies. I'm fine with taking more damage. I'm fine with doing less damage. I'm fine with the enemies being smarter and more accurate. But when it's ALL OF THE ABOVE, I call that 'cheating'. :P It doesn't help that as soon as you touch a vehicle, it's armor goes from 'Godlike' to 'Tinfoil', and that even on Easy, your allies driving AI is like a remedial drivers ed dropout, while the enemy's is superb (Things go downhill from there). It IS rather satisfying to finally get through the damn thing though. And at least on Legendary, there's a lot of Elites that like to drop their guns and pull out their swords, giving you an ample supply of plasma rifles *and* plasma swords. (Also, tip in case you didn't find this out. The Brute Shot's melee attack? Will kill and splatter nonshielded Flood instantly, like like the plasma sword. Too bad you don't get it 'till real late, and it's normal attack goes through your target's legs more often than it hits unless you're good.) I can't wait for Halo 3. |

Yeah it comes too late in the game to be of much use for that. I got horribly stuck about a third of the way into the game when I first got it, and dumped it in frustration and just started playing multiplayer all the time. A couple months later I went back and restarted the storyline and, lo, hard time fighting other real players had actually made me a better player all around. There was something very pleasing about that. You made me think of that because I got fairly accurate with the Brute Shot in multi. ;)

I mean, not that I don't like Halo, but I still adore "A Game of Universe", "Signal to Noise", etc., and wish he'd get back to it. |
