"This Old Dorm: A Dragon's thoughts."

LAST EDITED ON Dec-11-01 AT 11:06 PM (EST)

(Edited to get rid of a question about Truss answered in TOD. Sometimes my instinctive speed reading abilities are a bitch...)

Hey, an early Christmas present for us. Cool. Anyway, I liked this latest addition to the Symphony. As always, I have a few random thoughts, some already mentioned elsewhere:

Anne - Happy Birthday!

Zefram Cochrane - Ever since you let slip that he was alive and well in 2405, I've been waiting for this guy to turn up. I loved him in First Contact, how he was almost the exact opposite of what everyone from the Enterprise expected him to be. It seems like Janice was surprised too. Nice to see that a few centuries haven't changed him, and I should have known that he discovered Metaspace. Any chance of stats on the Kennebec-class, his latest creation?

The Castle - Actually, we didn't see that much of the reconstruction work on the castle, but that's probably alright, considering how boring it could have been most of the time. I can imagine the final result in my mind and have to agree with Utena; Anthy would like it.

B'Elanna Torres - My first reaction to this was a mixture of amusement, horror and interest. Having hated the version of her from Voyager (along with the rest of the show) I was a little nervous about her addition to the UF universe. Then I realised that this was a young version of her, and found myself hoping that you'd make her likeable. The end result? Success. When her family tried to drag her back, I found myself wanting to strangle the idiot in Admin that sent that letter. Quite different from my usual 'Oh Goddess, not HER.'

B5's opening - Well, that answers my unasked question of 'why isn't the WDF helping with B5?' Good thing I didn't ask, it might have ruined the surprise. I'd just assumed they were there, but you hadn't drawn attention to it yet. Another appearance of Derek, plus the potential for even more, was quite nice to see. He always amuses me. Watching him try to introduce Gryph to everyone was good for a laugh. As for Kosh, it seemed possible to talk to him normally (Something I don't expect from a Vorlon normally).

Dorothy and Turing - Surprise surprise, she actually passed (And there was much rejoicing). I expected as much, what with all the support she had, not to mention her relationship with Miki (Seeing Dot blush like that was an added bonus), but just before the trial began, I had this mental image of the entire panel consisting of people like Harris. Then Slappi and Rewind appear, and all my fears are gone. The appearance of Skuld was a nice touch (With the goddess of technology backing her up, how could she fail?) Plus, we got to see the crew of the Lorica again.

Crescent Heights Middle School - Finally, we get a quick look at Corwin's school. Right at the end of it, but still one look. It even had Buttercup (Theodora? Poor girl) making an appearance. Although there's a danger of slowing down production on Symphony, I really hope we see more of them.

Utena's piloting lessons - Although I'll save most of this for Interlude in Zero Gravity I have to admit what little we saw was nice. The VR launch of Apollo 11 was a good idea, especially considering how it showed how little mankind seems to remember of the first Earther space travellers. Shame really.

Amanda on B5 - I hate to seem arrogant, but I saw that one coming a light-year away, as soon as she said; "At any rate, I'm being groomed for a new position in the service of the Empire, a new learning experience. I can't tell you anything more about it just now... but I think you'll all find it interesting." It was either that or her own series.

I am still trying to wrap my mind around that one, slapped my head in time with
Derek right there.
