>This probably belongs in the Website tree, but I can't see how to move >a reply.... ... because you can't, except by cutting and pasting manually, like this. But you'd have put it in the wrong place anyway - it's a question about the conferences, not the website. >Can you remove the reply from the list of actions, leaving >Reply with quote as the only choice?? No. Unfortunately. --G. -><- Benjamin D. Hutchins, Co-Founder, Editor in Chief, Netadmin Eyrie Productions, Unlimited http://www.eyrie-productions.com/

>Ok, I'll believe you can't, Gryph... but what about that ol HTML god >Zoner? wouldnt this be a case of editing the html templates that DCF >uses to remove the reply option?? HTML is a bit different from Perl;) Anyway, I imagine sooner or later Zoner will reply, rendering all speculation moot anyway, but I feel like waxing poetic about code so... IF <BIG IF> DCF does what my instincts tell me to do, the 'container' around each post is generate by a single function that lays out the various links we all know and love. In -that- case, someone with access to the code who knows where to look could excise the 'reply' link relatively easily. Now, if DCF has several places that each end up generating 'reply' links under different circumstances, it gets a wee bit more complicated <though not insanely so>. Note this is all predicated on DCF having non-insanity inducing program structure. If their message database design is any indication <dig through the archives for -that- monstrosity>, that is far from given.

>I use the reply option more then the reply with quote option, but >since I dont post that oftain anymore... > I think the point is that it's preferable to use "Reply with Quote" and then edit out the unnecessary stuff, just to provide some context (such as what I did here). If you just use "Reply", you get no context to go with your post. And while that might be good if you posting on a new topig, if you do that you should start a new thread and not jut tag on to someone else's...Offsides Unemployed netadmin seeking job... so what else is new?
