"Kaitlyn Sketch"

This is the Kaitlyn sketch I did. It's far cruder than the Amanda one. (I got distracted by drawing Amanda ^_^) But I wanted to get some feedback anyway. It'll help me finish it properly. -Logan |

That's a very nice likeness of her "little" smile, the one she uses for moments of private amusement and/or fondness. (Corwin gets that one a lot. :) Very cool. --G. -><- Benjamin D. If I nailed a _particular_ smile, it's pure serendipity. I wasn't aiming for anything in particular.
You know - A good possible reference in a recent anime for Kaitlyn might be Yoriko (I _think_ that's the right name) from the OAV series "Read or Die". Her code name is "The Paper". And she is just the most adorable glasses wearing character I think I've ever seen in a long time! Funny, I hadn't even thought about the shape of the glasses. But I guess I drew them that way because it's easier to do aviation style glasses than try to do round ones correctly. Do you want me to change the glasses to round ones or keep them as I have them? -Logan |

Well, I like the round ones, but if it turns out to be a huge pain, don't put yourself out - it's possible she has more than one pair. :) --G. -><- Benjamin D. Particulary the bit on top of the Statue of Liberty, with Nancy, right at the end of the first ep. The bit where she's (spoiler) hanging by her coat and Nancy looks at her and asks what's more important, the book or her life. The look on Yoriko's face is just too damn cute. And I like the sketch too. drakensisthered
SHE'S the 'Pirate Killer,' 'Klingon Spooker,' 'Big Trouble in a Little Package,' 'She Who Must be Avoided,' and 'Go Around the Other Side of the Nebula.' I'm the dumb blonde comic relief. |

It's not bad at all. Except that for some reason, there seems to be a fairly strong (to my eyes, at least) family resemblance to ... They have a certain similarity of character that might come through in a look, but physically there isn't -that- much of a resemblance. (In color that would be more obvious; Kate's hair is quite a bit darker. It's not straight like Bell's, either.) Not that Kate would be at all offended to be compared with Aunt Bell. :) --G. -><- Benjamin D. >Don't suppose you'd like to make an attempt at my Vanished Knights? I'm not taking commissions these days. I'm working on getting out of a bit of a slump these days in my creative output. I still have a pending one from Doc Mui that I STILL haven't completed yet. Let's put it this way - Symphony of the Sword is DAMN impressive if it can inspire me to do off-the-cuff sketches like this unbidden. Gryphon didn't ask me to do these. I just did them. However - "never say never". Post a URL and let me take a look at the story. If It inspires me enough, than maybe, just maybe... No promises, though. -Logan ----------------------------------------------- Remember. Reality is a reference point, not a limitation. -----------------------------------------------

I've done that before, with that one sketch of Corwin... --G. -><- Benjamin D. Hutchins, Co-Founder, Editor in Chief, Netadmin Eyrie Productions, Unlimited http://www.eyrie-productions.com/

Jeez, I'm a weenie. I uploaded these two sketches the day I wrote that post, and then never linked them into the Imagery page. Sheesh. --G. -><- Benjamin D. Wow... that's really good, especially for being what you consider a "crude sketch." I try my hand at drawing anime occasionally too, but quick sketches are about all I get done these days since most of my time is taken up with other art assignments I get in all my classes. I've gotten to the point of art burn-out, where it just doesn't feel fun anymore since I'm forced to do so much of it. :( I feel bad... this was posted awhile ago and I only saw it today, and only saw your lovely picture of Amanda (that's really close to how I pictured her) after Gryphon's post about linking to the imagery page made me check there. Ah well... good job, keep it up! - R. Mayo I like puppies. |
