Whee! New SOS! And very good new SOS, too. Aside from the obvious advancement of everybody's favorite subplot, I have two things I'd like to note:
"So now you're my knight." Corwin grinned. "That's right," he replied. "My Iron Knight," she added, patting the Griffon's dashboard with a smile.
Dear readers, does this sound familiar? Reread Crown of Roses if not.And second... New Avalon has ROCKETEERS in their police force?! Blessed be. Nathan Baxter ----- Iä! Iä! Moe fthagn! |

>As if we didn't see it coming. What is the Thorn of the Rose >if not a Heartsword? Well, technically no... if it were a true heartsword, that would make it kind of inconvenient for her to use in day-to-day dueling, given that she'd have to have Corwin around to draw it for her. :) --G. -><- Benjamin D. Operating from different definitions of the concept. The blade is apparently tied to her Reality, but it's not a Heartsword. >That's what hit me, too. The Rune God of Iron, waiting for the one who >will be the Rune Knight. Glad to know it's not just sleep deprivation >making me think of that... All right, I give. I haven't seen/read any MKR except for a 15 second peek at the first volume of translated manga, which looked silly. But it's turning into a big enough part of the series that maybe I should look into it, yes? So-- should I get the manga? DVD's? Sit back and let Gryphon tell me the relevant parts? Any suggestions? While on the subject-- I rented the first four episodes of Utena last week. Guh? References hereabouts make it sould like it gets less comprehensible the further it goes. In which case, Bravo EPU people for making it into such a good story! Dan Brandon ---- I call it, Operation Anthy Himemiya Is A Total Weirdo Who Keeps A Live .sig In Her Closet! |

LAST EDITED ON Dec-24-01 AT 02:13 PM (EST) >And second... New Avalon has ROCKETEERS in their police force?! Yep. I meant to show one in the zeppelin scene in A Rose for the New Year, but forgot. They're perfect for policing all that low-speed air traffic; like motorcycle cops in surface traffic, they're more maneuverable, faster and with much better acceleration than the bulk of their potential prey pool. :) (Their helmets are slightly different, though - since they're not trying to conceal their identities, the facemask part flips up, and has more of a visor look than an actual mask. And, of course, their costumes are differently colored; they're cops after all.) [EDITOR'S TRIVIA NOTE: This is the second Rocketeer reference in the Symphony so far.] --G. -><- Benjamin D. And, of course, their >costumes are differently colored; they're cops after all.) Sounds a little like DC Comics' Adam Strange. Red suit, silver harnesses, helmet with fin that exposes full face. Obligatory Buck Rogers pistol. And, as previous parts of SoS have mentioned, there's Nazis for them to go after. :) Ebony the Black Dragon aka Draco Draconis Ebenium known to DC as Aaron F. Not visibly, but their uniforms are made of much sturdier materials. It's the Shining Future, after all. :) >>(Their helmets are slightly different, though - since they're not >>trying to conceal their identities, the facemask part flips up, and >>has more of a visor look than an actual mask. Red suit, silver >harnesses, helmet with fin that exposes full face. Obligatory Buck >Rogers pistol. Heh. More like the Rocketeer than Strange; basically, imagine Cliff Secord with black pants and a royal blue jacket, a badge, and police lights on his shoulders. The helmets do conceal the cops' faces - they have sensors, communications equipment, and oxygen systems in them - but the faceplate is a little more generic-looking, like a Mass-Production Faceless Horde version of the Rocketeer helmet, and can be flipped up to reveal the officer's face. They do carry zap guns, though. The New Avalon Police Department is one of the few metropolitan police departments in the Federation to issue phasers (Sestra Weapons Type 2B, if you're curious :). >And, as previous parts of SoS have mentioned, there's Nazis for them >to go after. :) First rule of pulp-style action: There's always room for Nazis. --G. -><- Benjamin D.
