"Iron Man movie"

LAST EDITED ON Sep-11-07 AT 10:54 AM (EDT)

Hey everyone, first time poster, long time reader. (Though I guess anyone who has read UF is, by definition, a long time reader)

Anyway, reason for posting is I just finished reading through Hopelessly Lost and The Iron Age and came across this movie trailer that was posted on the net yesterday:

Iron Man

Now, all I know about Iron Man I learned from HL and TIA, but it looks interesting to me.

I assure you, last night most of the staff was sitting around in our virtual office and going 'squee' very loudly!

I'm not surprised: I just did as well, and I'm not a particularly great fan of the Marvel version. A nice tease of the Mk III suit, and the flight against those F-22s. I think I might actually look forward to seeing this one.

I'm still enjoying the fact that they're actually working in Iron Monger of all people. He's like...a bump in the road as far as Tony's rogues gallery goes in terms of the greater Marvel universe, but he was awesome in the comics. Not to mention the Monger armor itself looks helluva sweet.

Be nice if they'd not be Nazi's about it and let you download and save the trailer. Sheesh.

Or, for Firfox users, install the UnPlug extension and use that to save the file directly.

Many thanks for the pointer — installed the plugin, and the movie is downloading now.

Feh. I believe in using tools already available when they are suited to the job as well as freedom of information exchange.

In short, I BitTorrented that sucker. :D

Cool trailer. Never was a fan of the comic, but it certainly looks to be decent, if only for this: Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D

Ultimate Nick Fury is, essentially, Sam Jackson, and is probably the single best character in the entirety of the Ultimate branch of the Marvel Universe. The fact that they actually followed through and cast him is amusing me to no end.

I'm enjoying what I'm seeing so far, but I'd like to see the Mk III in action before I make a final decision.

Off to see it tonight. Reviews have it looking good and I've loved Robert Downey Jr since I saw Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, so I'm anticipating good things.

EDIT: YES. Excellent, excellent movie. Do yourself a favour, take the rest of the day off work and go and see this movie. Don't hesitate. Go. Now.

Also, if you want any of the figures, NOW IS YOUR LAST CHANCE
Seriously, you probably will never see a MK I again off eBay

Just got back from seeing it myself
If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a damn favor and STAY for the whole credits
Trust me it's worth the extra time

And before everybody really starts to discuss it, I just want to state that it has the best Stan Lee cameo yet
"How's it going Hefner?"

Nah, that's not how toy marketing works. They'll be insanely rare from now through about the home video release, then they'll reappear, and a few months after that stores will have to practically give them away to get them the hell off shelves. (Look at Bumblebee from the Transformers movie line. They were so insanely rare they were getting scalped for 50 bucks on eBay when the movie was in theaters. Now my local Wallies are swimming in the little yellow bastards. :)

BTW, I'm going to be locking this thread, not because it displeases me but because there's a thread for it over in private-mail now, and the movie itself isn't particularly germane to TIA.
