"A little oopsie (or 2)"

A couple of... editing oversights, in Blue Moon Serenade:

a) punctuation (comma) error

"Th-that wasn't a s-s-spaceship," Kate muttered, "th-th-that
w-was a f-f-fossil."
The answers came later ,when Mac McKenzie rode up on the
shuttle bus, looking much less stressed out than he usually did after
an interstellar voyage.

Yes, I know that it's a bit picky, but it did stand out. ;)

And the other (which I caught on my second read.

b) Now which one is the stunt double:

metaspace, which took the better part of the day. It was like their
old trips to Toronto on a grander scale. The band, their sound man
and rhythm guitarist in training, and the Beautiful & Talented Road
Crew of Utena, Wakaba and Juri Arisugawa (who had replaced Dorothy
when the robot girl joined the band) slept in orbit that night to save
on parking fees. The next afternoon they put down in the city of New

and a bit later...

Corwin, his mother, his half-brother Leonard, the Shannon
twins, Nall, Fuu Hououji, Saionji, Wakaba, Urd, Mia, and B'Elanna
Torres arrived shortly thereafter. Koopman Memorial High in New
Avalon, where Corwin, Nall, Len and the Shannons went to school,
wasn't on break, so they'd had to wait for classes to get out today,

It seems as if Wakaba was it two places at once, but maybe I just missed something.

Nitpicking aside, I really liked this part, Gryph. It covers a lot of ground without seeming to rush over parts, and elegantly brings in new elements, such as the Norns coming to DSM, and Liza's transformation. In fact, seeing how Liza would be reborn was the part I was awaiting the most. Now, it's Clarissa's fate. I can see it (her) going either way, it really depends on how successful she is in her parent's wishes.

You've also done a neat closing, where we (the readers) await the coming holiday. None of the characters is in dire peril, but it's a cliffhanger nonetheless.

I'm looking forward to the next part Gryph. Thanks for creating such an enrapturing tale.

Maybe she went out to the car for something and met the other group coming in. :)

(If you'd tried to figure out a way to explain it as not a mistake, instead of just pointing it out, I'd have had to give you a Marvel Comics No-Prize or something. :)

I really hated it when they did that, it was like they didn't want to admit on making a mistake or a screw-up.

Like Firehawk says, it happens.

Sheesh. It wasn't expected to be taken seriously... it was just a whimsical little piece of their corporate culture, back when they had one.

Sorry, that was an old sore spot of mine. I wonder though, what the heck was a No-Prize?

Corporate culture? Amusing.

Back when he was active as Editor in Chief, sometime in the sixties or early seventies, Stan Lee announced huffily in either the Bullpen Bulletins or a lettercol that there would be "no prizes" awarded for explaining away gaffes in art, story or continuity in Marvel comics. Shortly thereafter, a facetious reader did just that, and wryly added that he would be expecting his No Prize in the mail. It's sort of like the "no tea" item Arthur Dent has in his inventory in the old Infocom The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy game.

Stan was amused by the suggestion, so he sent the guy an empty envelope inscribed, "This envelope contains an official Marvel No-Prize which you have just won." It became a tradition. You couldn't win a No-Prize just by pointing out a mistake; you had to come up with some vaguely plausible, clever, and/or at least amusing way of explaining that it wasn't a mistake. It was all very tongue-in-cheek; but then, Marvel was like that back then.

Today's Marvel is a sad, sad shadow of what it was in the 1980s.

Amen to that, even though all I remember of eighties comics was GI Joe. They would get a ton of mail from people demanding the No-Prizes simply for pointing out errors of all kinds ( Tunnel Rat's skin color reflected off the pipe and thats what made Roadblock appear Caucasian)-stuff like that. Nowadays in comics, hell, how many wasp-waisted women with large mammary glands can they put in it?

I remember how they used to draw Invisible Girl...

As many as they can fit into the page.
