Hello. After reading a couple threads and being tempted to post to a couple, I decided to actually make myself an account. And so, even though it's not required or anything (not like, "If you don't want to now, cancel and you can later." *cancel* "I lied; keep typing."), I figured I ought to make my first post an introduction.Anyway, I'm Slarti. I'm a Wedgerat, I'm a Gweep. First arrived at WPI in fall of 1995. Dropped out spring of 1998, but I stayed in Worcester, got a place to live, and eventually a job. Now (well, as of a little more than a year ago), I'm working as one of the Unix systems administrators at WPI. Yup. I'm one of those guys who never left, and never plans to.
I initially got into Eyrie stuff 'cause I'd enjoyed watching Neon Genesis Evangelion (well, up to the last couple episodes where the creator took a sharp left and took the series straight into Fan Abuse Land), and I'd heard mention that Gryph, Zoner, & co. had been writing NXE (with major points for shuffling Shinji off until he could be introduced in a manner that allowed him to grow a freakin' spine). I haven't read much of the other, non-NXE, stuff, though I'll probably try some of it as I have time.
Oh, and since I was initially encouraged by Jer to post in the thread about the crab rangoons at Ping's Garden, I'll mention that as something of a rangoon connoisseur, I've found Ping's rangoons to indeed be exceedingly tasty. Out of the places where crab rangoons are available in Worcester (and keeping in mind that I prefer rangoons with a high cheese:crab ratio), I'd say that Peking Wok's were the best (when they still existed), IMO. Just behind that are Ping's Garden's and Nancy Chang's, roughly neck-and-neck. Sakura Tokyo's aren't quite so good, but they're still in my "very tasty" range. The ones at Dragon Dynasty (cheap takeout Chinese near campus) are somewhat barely passable, and the rangoons at Thai Cha Da and Chum Lee flunk out of my rankings due to being just too crabby and not cheese-y enough.
Anyway, that's me. I probably won't post too much, but if I do, this should at least give you a little idea of who this Slarti guy is (assuming you don't already know me from Wedge or Gweep stuff).
